Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This 1952 Mercury Monterey is powered by 255ci flathead V8 backed by a Merc-O-Matic three-speed automatic transmission. Features include rear wheel skirts, fog lights, and the original AM radio. Finished in Raven Black and Fanfare Maroon over a Black and Cherry Red vinyl interior, this Mercury is available now and comes from the selling dealer with the original owner’s manual, the original Merco-Therm HVAC guide, the original radio guide, and a clear title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

The Raven Black and Fanfare Maroon (code 42E) exterior features chrome bumpers, amber front fog lights, a driver-side mirror, a fender-mounted antenna, hood scoop trim, rocker moldings, and rear wheel skirts. A walk-around/road test video is available below.

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

A set of red 15-inch steel wheels with full Mercury hub caps is wrapped in 7.60-15 Kelly whitewall bias-ply tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The front bench seat, rear seat, trim, and door panels are upholstered in the reportedly original Black and Cherry Red vinyl (code 88A). Features include manual steering, brakes, and windows; a Mercury push-button AM radio; and a column-mounted automatic shifter.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

A 110-mph speedometer, a Borg electric clock, and gauges for the fuel level, temperature, oil pressure, and battery are located ahead of the driver. The odometer reads 19,044 miles, but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Power is provided by a 255ci flathead V8 and backed by a Merc-O-Matic three-speed automatic transmission.

UNDERCARRIAGE

This Mercury was factory-equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle. Braking is provided by manual four-wheel drums. A single exhaust system exits at the rear through an accessory chrome tip.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

The selling dealer will include the original owner’s manual, the original Merco-Therm HVAC guide, and the original radio guide as part of the sale.

Does the heater, wipers, e-brake, windows and all gauges work? Does it run hot or overheat? Do you have the original tools to change the tire and pictures of the overhead and visors? Lastly does it have any interior leaks? Appreciate your response. R/ Commodore

@jboy – Is it still the original 6 volt system? How does it drive? Transmission shift smoothly? Any significant leaks? ...

It is the original 6 volt system. It runs out nicely. I had it out last week. Shifts fine and is steady down the road. I do not see any concerning leaks.
