Vehicle Story

This 1970 Dodge Charger R/T is finished in Dark Burnt Orange Metallic with a white vinyl roof and white R/T tail stripe over a matching orange vinyl interior. Power is provided by a date-correct 440ci V8 paired with a Torqueflite 3-speed automatic transmission.  The car was purchased new on September 17, 1969, in Quebec, Canada, and remained with the same owner until 1978.  Fully restored by a previous owner, current equipment includes Edelbrock performance upgrades, an optional center console, and a modern audio system.  Located in Torrance, California, this Charger is now offered by the selling dealer with a build sheet, the original window sticker, and the factory owner’s manual on a clean California title.

The body is finished in its factory shade of Dark Burnt Orange Metallic (Code FK5) with black hood stripes, a white vinyl roof, and a white R/T tail stripe. Originally equipped with a black vinyl roof, it was changed during the restoration.  Features include hideaway headlamps, simulated fender vents, a flip-top gas door, and a dual exhaust.

Aftermarket five-spoke polished aluminum wheels are fitted to near-new tires.  The car retains its original style leaf springs and the factory heavy-duty suspension option, and is equipped with power brakes.

The interior is fitted with reupholstered Burnt Orange vinyl bucket seats with matching carpeting, door panels, and dash.  Wood accents are found on the 3-spoke steering wheel and for trim for the dash and center console. The audio system is a modern AM/FM/CD head unit in place of the car’s original radio.  Factory features include power windows and a factory-outfitted center console. There is a full-sized Goodyear Eagle GT spare tire in the trunk, and the battery has been relocated to the trunk as well.

Equipped with optional Rallye gauges, instrumentation, a 150-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. There is a factory-optioned tachometer mounted on the steering column.  Additional aftermarket gauges are mounted below the dash.  The vehicle has a 5-digit odometer, and true mileage is unknown.

The Magnum 440ci V8 is date-correct and was factory rated at 375hp before being upgraded with an Edelbrock 4-barrel 750 cfm carburetor, Edelbrock hi-rise performance RPM intake manifold, 2 ½” big block headers, Edelbrock air cleaner assembly, Mopar finned valve covers and MSD electronic ignition system.  Power is sent to the rear wheels through the car’s original rebuilt 727 Torqueflite 3-speed automatic transmission.  The car retains its original rear axle and differential as well.

Additional photos showing the underside are available in the gallery.

The sale includes a factory build sheet, a reproduction window sticker, and a factory owner's manual.

Saw this same body color on a 70 Road Runner. Maybe it runs in the Dodge -Plymouth lineup?
