1958 Chevrolet Corvette 283/270 4-Speed

This 1958 Chevrolet Corvette is finished in Snowcrest White with Silver Blue coves over a blue vinyl interior and is powered by a dual quad 283ci V8 paired with a 4-speed manual transmission.  It is one of 3,784 Corvettes produced with a 4-speed manual transmission for the year and one of 978 total produced with the 270 horsepower engine.  Equipment includes a Wonderbar radio, positraction rear end, and a removable hardtop.  Located in Torrance, California, this C1 Corvette is now offered by the selling dealer on a clean California title.

The body is finished in Snowcrest White with Silver Blue coves and equipped with a matching Snowcrest White hardtop. The body shows no signs of previous accident damage with the factory bonding strips intact. A new wrap-around glass windshield was installed with new weatherstripping while the windshield posts have been re-chromed. The front and rear bumpers have also been replated while the rest of the brightwork is in excellent condition. The car was ordered new with the hardtop only, a folding soft top is not equipped.

Factory 15” steel wheels are equipped with chrome hubcaps mounted to wide-whitewall radial tires; a full-size spare is located in the trunk. Braking is provided by manual drums all around

The Silver Blue interior features reupholstered bucket seats as well as new carpeting, dash pad, and door panels.  Rubber floor mats protect the Daytona carpeting while a metal trim plate surrounds the floor-mounted shifter. The original Wonderbar AM radio has been replaced with a period-correct AM unit and housed in the factory location, along with an analog clock.

Instrumentation is framed by a 3-spoke steering wheel and includes a 160-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, along with gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage.  The 5-digit odometer reads 17k miles, though true mileage on the vehicle is unknown. 

The 283ci V8 was factory rated at 270 hp and is original to the car per the seller.  It is equipped with restored dual 4-barrel carburetors and has the correct date casting #3737739 with date code B 24 8 and assembly stamp F226CU.  The car has the factory-correct radiator, hoses, and clamps, and correct tach drive generator.  Power is sent to the rear wheels through a date code-correct T-10 BW 4-speed manual transmission and 3.70 positraction rear end.
