OVERVIEW
This 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray convertible is reportedly one of 336 convertibles produced with the L79 engine and factory air conditioning. It was restored by Gerry Yursis to National Corvette Restorers Society (NCRS) standards and is powered by a numbers-matching L79 V8 backed by a rebuilt Muncie M21 four-speed manual transmission. Originally sold by Curtis Chevrolet in Washington, D.C., it comes equipped with power disc brakes, power steering, a Positraction rear axle, and air conditioning. Finished in Goodwood Green with a tan retractable top over a Saddle leather interior, this C2 Corvette is now offered by the selling dealer with an NCRS record, build documentation, and a clear Florida title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
The Goodwood Green exterior is offset by a tan cloth retractable top. Features include quad retractable headlights, chrome brightwork, vented front fenders, a driver-side mirror, an antenna, and a dual exhaust system. The selling dealer notes the presence of a few small rock chips.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
The turbine-style 15-inch wheels are wrapped in 205/75 Winston whitewall tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The two-seat cockpit is fitted with Saddle leather bucket seats, matched to the dash, door panels, and carpeting. Features include Soft Ray tinted glass (A01), a shoulder harness (A85), factory air conditioning (C60), a clock, a vertical radio, a fire extinguisher, and embroidered floor mats.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
Instrumentation includes a 160-mph speedometer, a 7K-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 11,506 miles, but the true mileage on the chassis is unknown. Approximately 2,000 miles have been put on the car since it was overhauled by Gerry Yursis.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The numbers-matching L79 327ci Turbo-Fire small-block V8 was rated at 350 horsepower. Power is directed to the rear wheels via the reportedly original rebuilt Muncie M21 close-ratio four-speed manual transmission and Positraction rear axle. Updates include the replacement of the clutch and bell housing with units that have "403" stamping, the replacement of the master cylinder, and the replacement of the carburetor. A series of photos in the gallery to the right shows the stamping for various parts around the engine bay and chassis of the vehicle.
UNDERCARRIAGE
The steering and the disc brakes are power-assisted.
