OVERVIEW
This 1972 Mercedes-Benz 350SL convertible has had two owners in California and Arizona. It is powered by a fuel-injected 4.5-liter V8 mated to a three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a cloth retractable top, fog lamps, chrome accent trim, power windows, power disc brakes, and air conditioning. Finished in red and equipped with a black cloth retractable top over a beige vinyl interior, this R107 350SL is now offered with a color-matched removable hardtop, a hardtop cart, service and owner’s manuals, and a clear title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
The red paint finish is complemented by a black cloth retractable top. Exterior features include quad headlights, fog lamps, bright mirror caps, bodyside moldings, and chrome bumpers with overriders.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
Steel 14-inch wheels with body-color covers are wrapped in 205/70R14 Hankook Kinergy tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The interior is fitted with beige vinyl bucket seats, matched to the door panels, dash, center console, and carpeting. Amenities include air conditioning, an analog clock, power windows, and an AM/FM/cassette radio.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
Instrumentation includes a 160-mph speedometer, a 7K-rpm tachometer, and gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The six-digit analog odometer reads 140,000 miles, which the seller states is a true reading.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The M117 4.5-liter V8 was rated at 190 horsepower when new and reportedly received a major service recently. The muffler and the under-hood insulation have been replaced. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a console-shifted three-speed automatic transmission.
UNDERCARRIAGE
Stopping is performed by power disc brakes.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
The sale includes service and owner's manuals, the color-matched hardtop, and a hardtop cart.
Hello Fellow Classic Car Enthusiasts. As we come down to the last 5 hours I wanted to thank everyone for the comments /questions, and bids. As mentioned, if I start to get A few bids in, I’ll drop the reserve. Not there yet. Bid to own this beautiful example.
Hello- if you scroll down on comments, I took some photos of Owners manual, service booklets, and invoices. Yes, it does include the original date card. Thanks for your interest - new owner will be very pleased assuming we get some more bids in- so I can lower the reserve.
Can you be more specific about the documentation/records? And do you have pictures of Owners Manual and the Service Booklet? Does it contain the original Date Card?
Hello- factory ac, recently services, blows ice cold. No mechanical issues- no leaks. An exceptional example from Top to bottom.
Was factory air conditioning installed and if so, operational?
Good morning and thank you for the bids. With 2 days to go, should be an exciting auction towards the end. If I continued to get a few more bids in, I’ll take off the reserve, and let this stunning example go to a good new home. Happy bidding and please don’t hesitate to ask any questions/comments.
