OVERVIEW

This 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 SportsRoof underwent a restoration and receives power from a 428ci Cobra Jet Ram Air V8 linked to an upgraded Toploader close-ratio four-speed manual transmission. It was originally delivered to Glen Organ Ford in Compton, California and has reportedly remained California-owned. Equipment includes a Traction-Lok rear end, Magnum 500-style wheels, a Ram Air hood, power steering, and power front disc brakes. Finished in Grabber Green with satin black accents over a black vinyl interior, this garage-kept Mustang Mach 1 is now offered with a Deluxe Marti Report, historic registration cards, period-correct California license plates and dealer frames, the removed original 14-inch wheels with hubcaps and new tires, and a clear title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

The exterior received a complete respray in the original Grabber Green (paint code Z) and satin black accents. Exterior features include a chin spoiler, a hood scoop, hood retention pins, fender-mounted Mach 1 emblems, dual mirrors, rear window louvers, a rear spoiler, and a dual exhaust system.

EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES

Magnum 500-style 15-inch wheels are wrapped in BFGoodrich Radial T/A raised-white-letter tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The 2+2 interior is fitted with black vinyl high-back bucket seats up front and a Sport Deck two-seat bench in the rear, matched to the door panels, dash, and carpeting. Amenities include simulated woodgrain trim, an analog clock, a tilt steering column, an AM/FM radio, tinted glass, and a Hurst shift lever.

INSTRUMENTATION

Instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer, an 8K-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges that show the fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 64,939 miles, which the seller reports to be accurate.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

The 428ci Cobra Jet Ram Air V8 comes with a rev limiter. While production documentation shows that this Mach 1 was originally manufactured with a C6 three-speed automatic transmission, power is now sent to the rear wheels via a console-shifted Toploader close-ratio four-speed manual transmission and a 3.50:1 Traction-Lok limited-slip differential.

UNDERCARRIAGE

Stopping power is provided by power front disc brakes and rear drums. Steering is power-assisted.
