Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This restomod 1960 Chevrolet Parkwood four-door station wagon is propelled by a 435-horsepower Magnuson-supercharged 6.0-liter LS2 V8 mated to a heavy-duty 4L65E four-speed automatic transmission and a Positraction rear end. Equipment includes staggered Ridler chrome wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, a stainless-steel exhaust system, and tube headers. Finished in red over a refurbished gray cloth interior, this second-year Parkwood is now offered by the selling dealer with owner’s manuals and a clear Michigan title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

This Parkwood station wagon shares chassis elements with the Bel Air and was recoated in red as part of refurbishment under prior ownership. Features include quad headlights, replated chrome brightwork, dual sideview mirrors, and stainless steel exhaust system with an outlet ahead of each rear tire.

EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES

Staggered Ridler chrome wheels are sized 18-inch up front and 20-inch in the rear, shod in 245/40 tires up front and 275/40 out back.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The interior is fitted with gray cloth bench seats both front and rear, combined with black vinyl trim elements and matched to the door panels, newer headliner, and newer carpeting. Amenities include a factory AM radio, a flat-folding rear seat, and floor mats. The selling dealer notes that the door panels and kick panels have some warping and distortion consistent with age.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

Dakota Digital modern instrumentation includes a central 160-mph speedometer, an inset 8K-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. An AutoMeter boost pressure gauge is mounted within the ash tray. The digital odometer reads 20,450 miles, and the selling dealer states that true mileage on the chassis is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Mounted within the show-detailed engine compartment is a 6.0-liter LS2 V8 that is upgraded with a Magnuson MP112 supercharger, tube headers, and new fuel lines. The powerplant has been rated at 435 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque. Power is fed to the rear wheels via a column-shifted 4L65-E four-speed automatic transmission and a Ford nine-inch rear end with a 3.70-ratio Positraction differential.

UNDERCARRIAGE

The rust-free chassis uses tubular upper and lower control arms up front with drop spindles along with a four-link setup in the rear. Steering is power-assisted, and braking is handled by power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes with cross-drilled and slotted rotors along with new lines.
