OVERVIEW
This restored two-owner 1978 Chevrolet El Camino has been with the seller since 1999. It is powered by a remanufactured 400ci V8 engine backed by a rebuilt TH350 three-speed automatic transmission with a Gear Vendors overdrive unit. Features include a four-wheel adjustable air suspension system, a functional cowl-induction hood, power steering and brakes, a spray-in bedliner, and a tilt steering column. Finished in metallic blue over a blue vinyl and cloth interior, this El Camino comes with documentation from both owners including the original bill of sale, the original build sheet, maintenance and service records, and a clear title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
During the restoration completed in 2014, the exterior was finished in metallic blue. Features include chrome bumpers, a functional cowl-induction hood, dual color-keyed sport mirror housings with a manual driver-side remote, midbody and wheel well trim, and a spray-in bedliner.
EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES
A set of body-color 16-inch Wheel Vintiques steel wheels with dog dish hub caps is wrapped in Continental radial tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The split-bench seat is upholstered in blue vinyl with blue cloth seating surfaces. Features include power steering and brakes, manual windows, a tilt steering column with an automatic transmission shifter, a three-spoke steering wheel with a wood rim, and an AM/FM/Bluetooth stereo. The seller notes there is air conditioning, but it is not fully functional.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
An 80+-mph speedometer, a clock, and a fuel gauge are located ahead of the driver. Two auxiliary gauges are mounted under the parking brake release. With 27,000 miles added during current ownership, the odometer reads 84,200 miles, which the seller reports to be accurate.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Power is provided by a remanufactured 400ci V8 engine and backed by a rebuilt TH350 three-speed transmission with a Gear Vendors overdrive unit. Engine bay features include a high-rise intake manifold, a 750-cfm four-barrel carburetor, and Doug Thorley headers. The seller states that a complete tune-up and an oil change were completed in March 2023.
