OVERVIEW
This 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu was assembled the last week in March 1969 at GM's Kansas City, Missouri plant and was sold on May 2, 1969 at Ruwart-McKinnon Chevrolet in Denver, Colorado. While with its second owner, it received a frame-up restoration. Features include a rebuilt 396ci V8 backed by a Muncie M20 four-speed manual transmission, power steering and brakes, an AM/FM/CD stereo, a center console, bucket seats, and SS badges. Finished in Fathom Green and equipped with a Parchment vinyl top over a Midnight Green vinyl interior, this garage-kept Chevelle is available now and comes from the selling dealer with an owner’s manual, a body assembly manual, the original Protect-O-Plate, sales literature, a restoration photo album, and a clear title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
The exterior was refinished in the original color of Fathom Green (57) during the frame-up restoration. Features include chrome bumpers, white side accent stripes, a fender-mounted antenna, an SS hood, SS 396 emblems, a driver-side rearview mirror, a Parchment vinyl top (E), wheel well trim, and a black rear tail panel. A walk-around video can be seen below.
EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES
A set of SS wheels is wrapped in Cooper Cobra radial tires that have less than 75 miles on them.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The front bucket seats, rear seat, rear trim, and door panels are upholstered in Midnight Green vinyl (796). Features include power steering and brakes, a Kenwood AM/FM/CD stereo, manual windows, a black dashboard with a black top pad, and SS 396 emblems. The selling dealer states that new carpeting, kick panels, center console, manual transmission shifter, floor mats, and window glass has been installed.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
A 120-mph speedometer, a 7,000-rpm tachometer, a fuel gauge, and warning lights are located ahead of the driver. The odometer reads 10,337 miles, which the selling dealer reports to be accurate.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Power is provided by the reportedly numbers-matching 396ci V8 engine and backed by a Muncie M20 four-speed manual transmission. Engine bay features include chrome valve covers and a chrome air cleaner. The selling dealer states that the engine was rebuilt in 2002 at Burbank Speed Shop and has accrued 5,000 miles since then. According to the selling dealer, this Chevelle has matching driveline stamping and casting numbers, and the carburetor, battery, electronic distributor, digital regulator, bellhousing, and clutch pivot linkage are new.
UNDERCARRIAGE
This Chevelle is equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid 12-bolt rear drive axle with 3.55:1 gears. Braking is provided by power front discs and rear drums. A dual exhaust system exits at the rear.
