This 1961 Chevrolet Corvette is finished in Roman Red with white coves over a black vinyl interior and is powered by a 283ci V8 paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. Previously restored by Sutton's Corvette Shop in Maryland, equipment includes both soft and hard tops, a Wonderbar radio, and whitewall tires. Located in Chesapeake City, Maryland, this C1 Corvette is now offered on a clean Maryland title in the seller’s name.
The car is painted in its original shade of Roman Red with white coves and features a white retractable soft top. Suttons Corvette Shop has fully and professionally restored the vehicle, and the seller indicates that special attention was paid to the alignment of the fiberglass body panels. The car comes with an accompanying, matching Roman Red factory hardtop. The chrome and other brightwork, including the bumpers, trim, and emblems, are in good condition.
Factory 15” red-painted steel wheels with chrome caps are mounted to Firestone wide whitewall tires on all four corners, in 215/70 size. Braking is handled by manual drums all around.
The interior is fitted with black vinyl bucket seats with matching carpeting and door panels. A chrome shifter with a white shift knob is mounted on the floor, and the black dash features a dual-cockpit design with Corvette insignia at the passenger side along with a grab handle. The car is equipped with a Wonderbar radio, and the rearview mirror is affixed to the top of the dashboard. The center stack contains heater and defroster controls as well.
Instrumentation is framed by a 3-spoke steering wheel and includes a 160-mph speedometer and a 5k-rpm tachometer. The center console also includes an analog clock. The 5-digit odometer reads 11k miles, though true mileage on the vehicle is unknown.
The car is powered by a 283ci V8 equipped with the correct Corvette style chrome air cleaner and finned aluminum valve covers. The engine stamp pad code reads "TO121GF" while the casting date on the back of the block is 3834810. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 4-speed manual transmission.
Additional photos showing the underside are available in the gallery.
The sale includes the factory Roman Red hardtop, as well as a car cover. It also includes receipts and documentation from the restoration and an original owner’s manual, assembly manual, and the 1952 through 1962 Corvette Servicing Guide.
