OVERVIEW
This 1980 Pontiac Firebird Turbo Trans Am Pace Car Edition was built to commemorate the 1980 Indianapolis 500 and Daytona 500 races. It has covered 640 kilometers (398 miles) since new and is powered by a turbocharged 4.9-liter V8 backed by a three-speed automatic transmission. Power features include the steering, four-wheel disc brakes, windows, door locks, antenna, and trunk release. Additional features include T-tops, air conditioning, cruise control, heated rear glass, and a tilt steering column. Finished in Cameo White and gray over an Oyster vinyl and hobnail cloth interior, this Trans Am is available now and comes with memorabilia, a dealer order confirmation document, and a clear title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
The exterior wears the factory-applied Cameo White and gray two-tone finish. Features include Official Pace Car and Turbo Trans Am graphics, Daytona logos, a turbo hood with an offset dome, fender-mounted air extractors, a power antenna, a front chin spoiler, dual sport mirrors with a manual driver-side remote, removable glass roof panels, a three-piece rear spoiler, and a pair of Pontiac exhaust splitters.
EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES
A set of 15-inch Cameo White Trans Am Turbo wheels is wrapped in 225/70 Goodyear Polysteel Radial tires that were installed in 2022.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The front bucket seats and rear bench are upholstered in Oyster vinyl with hobnail cloth inserts. Features include embroidered Firebird logos on the door panels and rear seatback, power steering and brakes, power windows and locks, air conditioning, a tilt steering column, a gray leather-wrapped sport steering wheel, an AM/FM/cassette stereo, and a center console with an automatic transmission shifter.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
Instrumentation includes a 140-km/h speedometer, a 6,000-rpm tachometer, hood-mounted boost indicators, a clock, and gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The odometer reads 640 kilometers (398 miles), which the seller reports to be accurate.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Power is provided by a turbocharged 4.9-liter V8 featuring a four-barrel carburetor and an oil-cooled Garrett TB305 turbocharger. The engine was factory-rated at 210 horsepower and 345 lb-ft of torque. Shifting is handled by a three-speed automatic transmission. The seller states that all fluids were replaced in 2022.
UNDERCARRIAGE
This Trans Am was factory-equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle. Braking is provided by power four-wheel discs.
