OVERVIEW
This European-market 1980 Mercedes-Benz 280SL roadster was imported from Germany in 1980 and has been in the seller’s family for over 24 years. Power is generated by an M110 2.8-liter inline-six paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Recent service includes an air conditioning service and a new ignition. Equipment includes woodgrain trim, chrome wheels, fog lamps, and a dark brown retractable soft top. Finished in Champagne over a brown vinyl and patterned cloth interior, this garage-kept R107 280SL is now offered with a color-matched removable hardtop, a hardtop cart, service records, and a clear title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
The Champagne (473) exterior features fog lamps, quad headlights, bright mirror caps, wheel arch moldings, a dark brown cloth retractable top with plastic rear windows, and European-specification bumpers. The seller notes the presence of paint chips on the hood.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
Chrome-finished 14-inch Bundt wheels are wrapped in three-year-old tires that have fewer than 1,000 miles on them.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The interior is fitted with brown vinyl seats with patterned cloth inserts for the front buckets and the rear seats, and coordinating door panels, dash, center console, and carpeting. Amenities include air conditioning, power windows, woodgrain trim, a carpeted dash mat, and floor mats.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
Instrumentation includes a 160-mph speedometer, a 7,000-rpm tachometer, a clock, and auxiliary gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, and instantaneous fuel economy. The six-digit mechanical odometer reads 104,253 miles, which the seller asserts is the true mileage on the vehicle.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The M110 2.8-liter inline-six was rated at 185 horsepower when new and features Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection. Recent maintenance in March 2023 included an air conditioning service and the installation of a new ignition and a new battery. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a console-shifted three-speed automatic transmission.
UNDERCARRIAGE
Stopping is performed by power disc brakes.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
The sale includes a color-matched removable hardtop, a hardtop cart, and service records.

Thanks, not that motivated, choosing to sell (don't need to). FYI, the ClassicCars.com listing was $23,900 OBO.

I have had this euro car (a 107 body with the 280 6 cyl, along with the 113 280). This is one of the nicer color and presentations. These cars - in any of their engine specifications - were never really very sporty or fast. The 6 cyl does just fine and will cruise along well and be very bullet proof....especially compared to some of the 8 cyl they tried cramming in there! These are to my eye , the best of the 107 chassis and body...because the Euro gets the original small bumpersthe car...). and other accouterments...and the smaller motor makes its stance that much better. (It was actually designed for this motor - with the US market wanting bigger numbers on things. It does suffer from the common ailments of these then - poor a/c and heat, difficult top....(and handling the very heavy hardtop without damage to the paint is at least a 2 healthy person job). The sound systems and such are also not of the standard one may expect. But a fully enjoyable car.
