Vehicle Story

This 1976 Triumph TR6 is finished in Java Green over a black interior and is powered by a 2.5-liter inline-6 paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. Originally a Texas car with two prior owners, the seller acquired the car in 2012 and brought it to Virginia, where he has added approximately 9,000 of the 46,000 miles shown. The file of records includes receipts for service and maintenance totaling nearly $10K. This TR6 is offered with the aforementioned records, a convertible top boot cover, and a clear Virginia title.

The car is finished in Java Green and the seller notes it has been garaged kept since new. A period chrome luggage rack is fitted, and twin chrome Talbot style bullet mirrors are door-mounted. The black tail panel in the rear was refinished by a prior owner, the seller is unsure of the originality of the rest of the paint. A black convertible top is fitted with plastic windows, and is in good condition with no tears in the vinyl or fading in the windows.

Painted 15 inch steel wheels wear TR6 logo center caps and chrome trim rings mounted with Coker red line tires. Front discs and rear mounted drums handle the braking.

Black vinyl upholstery is complemented by black pile carpeting covered with floor mats. Black high back seats with moveable headrests were sourced from British Victoria. A black boot cover snaps in place over the soft top, while the trunk is upholstered with black carpeting and houses the jack and tools.

A three spoke steering wheel fronts a walnut veneer dashboard housing a 140mph speedometer and 7k rpm tachometer, along with 4 auxiliary gauges and a factory AM radio. The shifter is housed in a black boot and topped with a walnut shift knob. The odometer currently reads 46,928 miles.

The 2.5-liter OHV inline-6 is equipped with twin carburetors and was factory rated at 101 horsepower, and 128 lb-ft of torque when new. Receipts accompanying this Triumph show a rebuilding of the carburetors and distributor, replacement of the water pump, cooling system hoses, a transmission gear oil change, and front sway bar links.

Additional photos of the undercarriage are available in the gallery.

Included in the sale are a full-sized spare tire, factory jack and a fire extinguisher.

@Pharrell82 – Hi Doug- I'm interested in this vehicle and in Purcellville as well. Have been on the hunt for a quality TR6 for sometime. Is it possible to see the vehicle in person? ...

Pharrell: IAW the website rules, request you make a bid on the vehicle. See below from FAQ. If the car does not sell I will get back to you (after the auction) and we can discuss options. I thank you for your interest but am required to abide by the website requirements at this time. Can I make a deal outside of the auction? A: Vehicles listed on AutoHunter are for sale exclusively through the auction site. AutoHunter incurs considerable expense to advertise listings, maintain & operate the platform, and support an administrative staff. As such, if a buyer or seller subverts the auction by attempting to make a deal outside of the auction, you will be banned from the site. If a buyer attempts this tactic with a seller, the best approach is to simply refer the buyer back to the auction and instruct them to place a bid that they are comfortable with.
