545-POWERED 1966 FORD F250

OVERVIEW

This frame-off-restored 1966 Ford F-250 long-bed pickup is powered by a 545cid big-block stroker V8 mated to a rebuilt C6 three-speed automatic transmission with a Gear Vendors overdrive system. It comes equipped with power rack-and-pinion steering, power disc brakes, a Crown Victoria independent front suspension, and a dual exhaust system with electric cutouts. Finished in metallic silver over a gray cloth interior, this custom F-250 is now offered by the selling dealer with a clear title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

The frame-off restoration entailed the reportedly original and rust-free sheet metal getting painted metallic silver. Exterior features include newer chrome, trim, and badging; a driver-side mirror; a bed liner; a factory passenger-side toolbox; a rear roll pan; an embossed tailgate; and smoked taillights.

EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES

Polished aluminum five-spoke American Racing Torq Thrust wheels are wrapped in low-profile tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The refurbished cab interior was retrofitted with a gray cloth bench seat from a later-model F-Series pickup, matched to the door panels, custom headliner, and carpeting. Amenities include tinted windows, lap belts, a fold-down center armrest, embroidered floor mats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and controls for the overdrive, exhaust cutouts, and electric fans. The original radio remains installed but is inoperative.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

Instrumentation includes the factory 100-mph speedometer, a column-mounted 8,000-rpm tachometer, and readouts for the fuel level and coolant temperature along with auxiliary aftermarket gauges. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 26,172 miles, but the true mileage on the chassis is unknown

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

The 545cid stroker V8 originated as a 460cid big-block powerplant and has been outfitted with an Edelbrock air cleaner along with additional upgrades such as electric fans, a Painless Performance Products wiring harness, and a three-inch dual exhaust system with electric cutouts. Power is fed to the back wheels via a rebuilt C6 three-speed automatic transmission, a Gear Vendors overdrive system, and a limited-slip nine-inch rear end with 3.50:1 gears.

UNDERCARRIAGE

The entire engine cradle, steering system, and front suspension assembly was sourced from a late-model Ford Crown Victoria. Additional chassis features include power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering, power disc brakes, and a lowered suspension.
