1965 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe L84 327/375 Fuelie 4-Speed

OVERVIEW

This restored 1965 Chevrolet Corvette coupe was built in November 1964 at the Chevrolet plant in St. Louis, Missouri. It is one of 771 fuel-injected 1965 Corvettes, one of an even smaller number of fuel-injected coupes, and comes from the first model year of the second-generation Corvette in which four-wheel disc brakes were available and the last model year in which fuel injection was offered. Its numbers-matching drivetrain consists of an L84 327cid V8, a Rochester fuel injection system, a Muncie M20 four-speed manual transmission, and a 3.36:1 Positraction rear end. Other features include a telescoping steering column, an AM/FM radio, the original clock, power windows, power disc brakes, and Kelsey-Hayes wheels with Goodyear whitewall tires. Finished in Milano Maroon over a Saddle leather interior, this "fuelie" C2 Corvette comes with a reproduction owner's manual and a clear title in the seller's name.

EXTERIOR - FEATURES

During the restoration process, the body was refinished in the original color of Milano Maroon (paint code MM). Exterior features include a professionally applied ceramic coating, chrome split bumpers, pop-up headlights, front fender vents, a driver-side mirror, bright trim, a power antenna, and dual exhaust outlets.

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

The 15-inch Kelsey-Hayes turbine-style wheels have knock-off center caps and are wrapped in P225/75R15 Goodyear Viva 2 whitewall radial tires.

INTERIOR - FEATURES

The cabin is furnished with Saddle leather (trim code 421) bucket seats and coordinating colors for the headliner, dashboard, door panels, trim, and carpeting. Equipment includes a telescoping steering column, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, an AM/FM radio, the original analog clock, vent windows, power windows, and lap belts.

INTERIOR - GAUGES

Vehicle information is displayed on a 160-mph speedometer, 7,000-rpm tachometer, and gauges for the fuel level, battery, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 59,590 miles, but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

According to the seller, this Corvette has a numbers-matching drivetrain, which includes an L84 327cid V8 equipped with a Rochester fuel injection unit and solid lifters, a Muncie M20 four-speed manual gearbox, and a 3:36:1 Positraction rear end. When new, the engine produced 375 horsepower. Photos in the gallery to the right show stamping numbers and an HG suffix, which denotes a 375-horsepower 327cid engine paired with a manual transmission. The seller reports that all fluids were changed, the valves were adjusted, and the electrical system, fluids, and brakes were checked by a mechanic in June 2023.

UNDERCARRIAGE

Stopping is performed by a set of power disc brakes.
