OVERVIEW
This military-grade 1968 Jeep M-715 is a 1.25-ton 4x4 utility pickup powered by a newly-rebuilt Tornado 230.5cid inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. It was manufactured by Kaiser Jeep Corporation in Toledo, Ohio and has reportedly driven just 14,260 miles over its lifetime. Equipment includes color-keyed wheels and accessories, a modern audio system, power windows, and hydraulic drum brakes. Finished in dark blue metallic and featuring a black cloth top over a saddle vinyl interior, this M-715 is now offered with a clear title in the seller’s name.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
The dark blue metallic exterior was refinished during restoration within the last five years and is accented in black throughout. Features include a brush guard, tow recovery hooks, fender flares, a fold-down windshield, a snorkel, a body-color jerry can, a bed-mounted toolbox, and wooden bedside planks. The seller notes some small blemishes in the finishes.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
Body-color 16-inch steel wheels are wrapped in oversize military-style tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The refurbished two-seat cab interior is fitted with saddle vinyl seats matched to the door panels, dash pad, padded rollbar, and center console which houses dual batteries. Features include black flooring, a Premier AM/FM/CD radio, a Grant steering wheel, and power windows. The dash face displays informational placards about vehicle equipment and operation.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
Instrumentation includes a central 60-mph speedometer surrounded by gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and voltage. The mechanical odometer reads 14,260 miles, which the seller believes to be original.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The rebuilt Tornado 230.5cid inline-six was rated at 133 horsepower when new and was rebuilt within the last 1,000 miles per the seller. It uses a single overhead camshaft and a 24-volt electrical system, although this unit has had its electrical system converted to 12 volts for the radio and the turn signals. Torque is sent to all four wheels via a Borg-Warner T-98 four-speed manual transmission, a dual-range transfer case, and locking hubs.
UNDERCARRIAGE
Chassis underpinnings were shared with the Jeep Gladiator, and stopping is handled by four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
The seller has provided two videos with an exterior/interior walkaround and a driving demonstration.
