OVERVIEW
This restomod M68 1946 Mercury Pickup is powered by a 460cid V8 engine backed by a C6 three-speed automatic transmission with an NP205 dual range transfer case. Features include power steering and brakes, a tilt steering column, Super Swamper 15” x 39.5” x16.5” LT radial tires, and an AM/FM Alpine stereo. Finished in green metallic with black vinyl interior, this Mercury pickup is available now and comes from the selling dealer with a clear title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
The exterior is finished in green metallic. Features include chrome bumpers, a chrome grille, dual rearview mirrors, a long bed step side pick up box, custom taillights, and a tailgate with an embossed Mercury logo.
EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES
A set of black 15-inch steel wheels, with manual locking front hubs, is wrapped in Super Swamper 15” x 39.5” x 16.5” LT radial tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The bench seat is upholstered in black vinyl. Features include power steering, a tilt steering column, a floor-mounted transmission and transfer case shifter, an Alpine AM/FM stereo, a cab-mounted fuel tank, a three-spoke steering wheel with a black grip, and manual windows.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
A 100-mph speedometer and gauges for the fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and voltage are located ahead of the driver. Two aftermarket gauges for the oil pressure and coolant temperature are mounted under the dash. The odometer reads 71,407 miles but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown. The selling dealer states that the speedometer does not work.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Power is provided by a D1VE-6015-A2B casting number 460cid V8 engine backed by a C6 three-speed automatic transmission with an NP205 dual range transfer case. Engine bay features include Milodon chrome valve covers, an aluminum intake manifold, a four-barrel carburetor, and an Edelbrock air cleaner. Recent maintenance and upgrades include a new high-torque starter in April of 2023, a Royal Purple full fluid change, a new battery 2022, and a new water pump including belts, and hoses, and a radiator flush and fill was completed in September of 2020. The selling dealer notes an oil leak in the oil pan gasket, and the hood hinges will need to be replaced.
UNDERCARRIAGE
This Mercury is equipped with a solid front axle and a solid rear drive axle with part-time four-wheel drive. Braking is provided by power four-wheel drums. A dual exhaust system exits at the rear. Additional photos of the undercarriage can be found in the carousel to the right.
