OVERVIEW
This 1963 Pontiac Bonneville convertible receives power from the reportedly numbers-matching 389cid V8 paired with a Hydra-Matic three-speed automatic transmission. It is equipped with power steering, power brakes, an AM/FM radio, and woodgrain trim. Finished in Grenadier Red and equipped with a white power-retractable top over a red and maroon vinyl interior, this third-generation Bonneville is now offered with an owner’s manual, records, a convertible top boot, uninstalled original intake parts, and a clear title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
The Grenadier Red (code 923) exterior was stripped and refinished under prior ownership. Features include stacked headlights, chrome brightwork, a driver-side mirror, rocker moldings, and a dual exhaust system. The seller notes some pitting in the chrome.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
Steel 14-inch wheels with Pontiac-branded hubcaps are wrapped in Remington Cushion-Aire Poly-4 whitewall bias-ply tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The interior is furnished with red and maroon vinyl front bucket seats, which match the rear bench, door panels, dashboard, and carpeting. Amenities include a replacement AM/FM radio, Pontiac-branded floor mats, power steering, a center console, and woodgrain trim.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
Instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer, clock, gauges for the fuel level and voltage, and a vacuum gauge near the center console. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 23,368 miles, but the true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The reportedly numbers-matching 389cid V8 has been upgraded with a Tri-Power intake and triple carburetors, chrome valve covers, and a battery quick-disconnect setup. Service history under prior ownership includes the replacement of the fuel filter, power top motor, alternator, battery, passenger-side window regulator, exhaust system, and transmission tail shaft seal. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a console-shifted Hydra-Matic three-speed automatic transmission.
UNDERCARRIAGE
The suspension architecture consists of an independent front setup and a solid rear axle. Power-assisted braking is provided by four-wheel drum brakes. Under prior ownership, the brake drums and shoes, front wheel seals, brake lines, and wheel cylinders were replaced.
