This 1965 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III is one of 2044 examples of this hand-built, left-hand drive example. Finished in Pewter over Silver with Red leather and powered by a 6.2-liter V8 paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission. The car was delivered new in the US and is equipped with factory air conditioning, quad headlights, power window lifts, wide-whitewall bias-ply tires, and burled walnut interior trim. This Silver Cloud III is now offered by the selling dealer with an owner’s handbook and a clean California title.
The Standard Steel Saloon body shell was manufactured by the Pressed Steel Company, using an aluminum alloy for the hood, trunk, and doors. Details include Series III-specific quadruple headlights, a polished stainless grille with a Spirit of Ecstasy mascot, bright beltline moldings, and ‘Sundym’ tinted glass. The purchase price of the Silver Cloud when new was $15,655.
A set of wide whitewall tires are mounted to steel 15″ wheels and feature polished aluminum wheel covers with matching Silver painted rings and Pewter colored pinstripes.
The interior sports red Connelly leather hides with matching door panels and carpets, while burl walnut lines the door tops and dashboard. Amenities include electric window lifts, an electric antenna, rear tray tables, and rear-seat vanity mirrors.
A three-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of Smith’s instrumentation, including a 120-mph speedometer, a combination gauge, and an analog clock. The five-digit odometer shows 45,500 miles which are believed to be accurate per the selling dealer but is not documented.
The all-aluminum overhead-valve 6.25 liter V8 sits beneath a centrally-hinged hood and a black air cleaner housing. The engine is fed by twin SU carburetors and features a nitride hardened crankshaft. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 4-speed GM sourced Hydramatic automatic transmission
Black leather gaiters cover the rear leaf springs, secured by leather straps and metal buckles. Additional photos showing the undercarriage are provided in the gallery.
The boot contains original style short loop fitted carpeting, underneath which lies a full-size spare, original jack, torch, and toolkit. In recent years the car has been serviced by Symbolic Motor Car Company of San Diego and by Jim Rickman of Pasadena, CA. Most recently, at Pasadena Motor Cars of Pasadena, a full multi-point inspection was completed at 45,445 miles.
As well as having been serviced at Pasadena Motor Cars prior to our ownership, after acquiring the car we have had the car serviced at our independent specialists and the car is turn key ready for its new owner. Thanks for your interest
