This steel body 1940 Ford Deluxe was a multi-class winner at the Detroit Autorama in 2014 and 2016 and has been shown successfully at many events. It is finished in Midnight Black over a cream two-tone leather interior and is powered by a 347ci V8 paired with a C4 3-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a B&M shifter, upgraded sound system, custom wheels, and a dual exhaust system. Located in Boca Raton, Florida, this Hot Rod coupe is now offered on a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.
The car is a factory Henry Ford steel body finished Midnight Black with silver side stripes and was the recipient of a professional full body-off restoration. It rides on its original chassis but the body itself has 27 modifications, including fiberglass rear fenders that have been widened by three inches. The door handles have been shaved and the car has a chrome billet grille and chrome headlight surrounds. LED taillamps at the rear are equipped on the rear along with a dual exhaust system with quad polished tips.
Aftermarket Billet Specialties aluminum wheels are staggered in size, with 20” in the rear and 18” up front. The car has a polished suspension system equipped with Heidts 2” drop spindles. Disc brakes are equipped on all four corners with performance Wilwood calipers finished in red.
The interior is fitted with brown carpeting and cream leather bucket seats with offsetting dark brown accents. A billet steering wheel with a woodgrain rim is equipped, and matching accents are featured within the custom dash. A vintage air conditioning system has been added, and the car has a fire extinguisher mounted between the front seats. A Pioneer head unit for the sound system is mounted in the upper console, and the windows are professionally tinted. Matching upholstery and carpet lines the trunk.
Instrumentation includes aftermarket VDO gauges, with a speedometer, tachometer, and fuel gauge. The digital odometer reads 2k miles, which is the mileage since the restoration was completed.
The 347ci stroker V8 resides in a fully detailed engine bay and with a polished air cleaner and valve covers. A stainless exhaust system and fuel tank were installed during the build. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a C4 3-speed automatic transmission with a B&M T-handle shifter and a 9-inch rear end with 3:55 gears.
