Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This 1998 Jaguar XJR sport sedan was manufactured in Coventry, England, and has been maintained exclusively in California as shown via over 40 service records on the CARFAX report. Power comes from an AJ26S supercharged 4.0-liter V8 mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. Appointments include automatic climate control, four-wheel disc brakes, wood interior trim, front and rear fog lamps, and a power sunroof. Finished in Carnival Red over an Oatmeal leather interior, this XJR is now offered with service records, a clean CARFAX report, and a clear title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

The Carnival Red exterior reportedly retains its factory-applied paint finishes with the exception of the rear bumper, which was repainted earlier in 2023. Features include quad headlights, mesh grille inserts, a "leaper" hood ornament, front and rear fog lamps, a power sliding sunroof, color-keyed mirror caps and bodyside moldings, chrome window trim, and a dual exhaust system. The seller notes that there are some stone chips on the nose, mirrors, and rocker panels, along with cracks in the taillight lenses.

EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES

Aluminum 18-inch five-spoke wheels are wrapped in 255/40 Pirelli P Zero Nero tires all the way around.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The cabin is appointed with heated and power-adjustable front bucket seats in Oatmeal leather, matched to the rear bench as well as the door panels, center console, and lower dash portions. Amenities include wood trim, cruise control, an AM/FM/cassette audio system with a trunk-mounted CD changer, a leather and wood multi-function steering wheel, cruise control, speed-sensitive power steering, and a power-adjustable steering column. The seller notes that the driver's seat shows some wear, which is visible in the gallery to the right.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

Instrumentation consists of a 170-mph speedometer, an 8,000-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for the fuel level and coolant temperature. The digital odometer reads 126,570 miles, which is in line with the most recent figure of 126,533 miles logged in the CARFAX report in February 2023.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

The AJ26S supercharged 4.0-liter V8 resides under a forward-hinged hood and was rated at 370 horsepower and 387 lb-ft of torque when new. The valve cover gaskets and fluids were changed in 2021, the engine mounts were replaced in 2020, and the drive belts were replaced in 2019, according to the CARFAX report. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a five-speed automatic transmission with a J-gate shifter.

UNDERCARRIAGE

Stopping power comes from four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, which received new front brake pads in 2019, according to the CARFAX report. Handling is assisted by a traction control system along with a sport suspension. A four-wheel alignment was performed in 2020.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

The CARFAX report begins in January 1998 and shows accident-free California ownership since new under four owners. An emissions inspection was completed in February. Service records will accompany the vehicle.
