OVERVIEW
This custom-built 1948 Chevrolet 3100 is powered by a 350cid V8 crate engine backed by a Bowler Performance Transmissions 200-4R four-speed automatic overdrive transmission. Features include a Chevrolet S10 frame swap, power steering, power front disc brakes, a chopped top, a power driver’s seat, a tonneau cover, a Vintage Air climate control system, a Pioneer AM/FM/CD stereo, and a tilt steering column. Finished in red over a tan leather interior, this 3100 comes from the selling dealer with a front bra, bed tonneau cover, and clear title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
During the custom build process completed in 2015, the exterior was finished in red. Features include shaved bumpers, a color-matched grille, a shaved hood with 1968 Camaro SS hood trim, a chopped top, a V-butt windshield, and color-keyed mirror housings. Additional features include a custom-fabricated steel step-side bed with a polished aluminum tread plate floor, fiberglass fenders and running boards, a custom fuel door, a tan bed rug, a bed-mounted storage compartment and spare tire, custom rear bed panel trim, custom accent pinstriping, SS emblems, a rear roll pan, and reproduction 1950 Pontiac taillights.
EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES
A set of chrome Cragar S/S wheels is wrapped in redline radial tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The pair of bucket seats are upholstered in tan leather. Features include a power driver's seat, a center console with cup holders, and a storage compartment. Additional features include a floor-mounted automatic transmission shifter, a Vintage Air climate control system, power steering, a tilt steering column, a three-spoke billet aluminum steering wheel with a red grip, a Pioneer AM/FM/CD stereo, manual windows, tan door panels, and gloss red trim with accent pinstriping.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
A set of Classic Instruments analog gauges that include a 140-mph speedometer and readouts for the fuel level, water temperature, voltage, and oil pressure are located ahead of the driver. An 8,000-rpm Sunpro tachometer is mounted to the top of the dashboard. The odometer reads 12,703 miles, which the selling dealer states is the mileage logged since the build was completed. The true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Power is provided by a 350cid V8 crate engine and backed by a Bowler Performance Transmissions 200-4R four-speed automatic overdrive transmission. Engine bay features include a smooth body-color firewall, a firewall-mounted Optima Redtop battery, hidden air conditioning and heater lines, and smooth red inner fenders. Additional features include an aluminum radiator, a body-color power brake master cylinder and booster, chrome valve covers, a chrome power steering pump, a chrome air cleaner, an Edelbrock carburetor with an electric choke, and an HEI ignition.
UNDERCARRIAGE
This 3100 has been modified to accept a Chevrolet S10 chassis with an independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle. Braking is provided by power discs. A dual exhaust system exits at the rear.
