Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This restored First Series 1955 Chevrolet 3100 pickup is powered by a Thriftmaster 235cid inline six-cylinder engine backed by a three-speed automatic transmission. Features include a six-volt electrical system, a bedside-mounted spare tire, a wood bed floor, a tonneau cover, an AM/FM/cassette stereo, and a heater. Finished in red over a gray cloth and vinyl interior, this Chevrolet 3100 comes from the selling dealer with a clear title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

During the restoration in the 1990s, the exterior was refinished in red. Features include chrome bumpers, a chrome grille, hood ornaments, a driver-side mirror, running boards, a cab-mounted fuel filler, a long step-side pickup box, a wood bed floor, a black vinyl tonneau cover, a bedside-mounted spare tire, and white accent tailgate lettering.

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

A set of black 15-inch wheels with chrome 1960s-era Chevrolet truck hubcaps and trim rings is wrapped in 235/75R15 Medalist A/S whitewall radial tires that match the side-mounted spare.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The bench seat is upholstered in gray vinyl with a gray cloth seating area. Features include vent windows, gray cloth door panels with manual window cranks, lap belts, a column-mounted automatic transmission shifter, an AM/FM/cassette stereo, a black vinyl floor mat, and a heater.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

A 90-mph speedometer and gauges for the fuel level, oil pressure, temperature, and amps are located ahead of the driver. The odometer reads 61,031 miles, but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Power is provided by a Thriftmaster 235cid inline six-cylinder engine and backed by a three-speed automatic transmission.

UNDERCARRIAGE

This Chevrolet was factory-equipped with a solid front axle and a solid rear drive axle with an open driveline introduced in the First Series of Chevrolet trucks. Braking is provided by manual four-wheel drums. A single exhaust system exits at the rear.
