408-POWERED 1968 PLYMOUTH BARRACUDA CONVERTIBLE

OVERVIEW

This 1968 Plymouth Barracuda convertible was restored under previous ownership in 2002 and equipped with a BluePrint Engines 408cid stroker V8 crate engine, TorqueFlite 727 three-speed automatic transmission, and Gear Vendors overdrive unit during current ownership in 2020. Features include power front disc brakes, power steering, a Holley Sniper electronic fuel injection system, an AM/FM/CD stereo, bucket seats, and a center console. Finished in cream white and equipped with a green vinyl convertible top over a white vinyl interior, this Barracuda comes with a clear title in the seller's name.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

During the restoration in 2002, the exterior was refinished in cream white and equipped with a new green vinyl convertible top. Features include chrome bumpers, hood-mounted turn signal indicators, hood accent trim, a fender-mounted antenna, dual mirrors, and rear body trim. The seller states that minimal road rash from driving is present and a spot on each rocker panel where the paint is cracked and pulling away from the metal can be seen.

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

A set of 14-inch Rallye wheels is wrapped in Cooper Cobra Radial G/T raised-white-letter tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The front bucket seats and the rear seat are upholstered in white vinyl. Features include manual windows, power steering, a center console-mounted automatic transmission shifter, an AM/FM/CD stereo, a Holley fuel injection control panel, white door panels with woodgrain trim, and a white vinyl convertible top boot.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

A 120-mph speedometer, an 8,000-rpm Sunpro tachometer, and gauges for the fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and battery are located ahead of the driver. With 11,335 miles added during the seller's eight years of ownership, the odometer reads 142,900 miles, but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Power is provided by a BluePrint Engines 408cid stroker V8 crate engine and backed by a TorqueFlite 727 three-speed automatic transmission and a Gear Vendors overdrive unit. All three components were installed in 2020. The engine's reported output is 404 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. Engine bay features include black finned aluminum Edelbrock valve covers, an aluminum intake manifold, a chrome Edelbrock air cleaner, and a new aluminum radiator with an electric cooling fan. An oil change was completed in August 2023.

UNDERCARRIAGE

This Barracuda is equipped with an independent front suspension and a Sure-Grip rear differential with 3.55:1 gears. Braking is provided by power front discs and rear drums. A dual exhaust system exits at the rear. The seller states that a Hotchkis Sport Suspension system has been installed.
