OVERVIEW
This restored 1948 Chrysler Town and Country sedan is reportedly one of 1,119 built in 1948 and is recognized as a "Full Classic" by the Classic Car Club of America (CCCA). Power is supplied by a Spitfire 250cid L-head inline six-cylinder engine and backed by a Presto-Matic two-speed semi-automatic transmission with overdrive. Features include hydraulic drum brakes, a wood roof rack, dual spotlights, an AM radio, radial tires, and a heater. Finished in Dove Gray with Ash wood and Mahogany veneer paneling over an Oxblood Burgundy leather and Taupe Bedford cloth interior, this Town and Country comes from the selling dealer with a clear title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
During the restoration, the exterior was refinished in Dove Gray with Ash wood and Mahogany veneer paneling. Features include chrome bumpers, dual mirrors, dual spotlights, a wood roof rack, rocker trim, and chrome taillight housings.
EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES
A set of Dove Gray wheels with chrome center caps and chrome trim rings is wrapped in Goodyear radial tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The front bench seat and the rear seat have been reupholstered in Oxblood Burgundy leather and Taupe Bedford cloth inserts. Features include manual windows and steering, an AM radio, a column-mounted semi-automatic transmission shifter, and wood trim.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
A 120-mph speedometer and gauges for the fuel level, amps, oil pressure, and coolant temperature are located ahead of the driver. The odometer reads 30,383 miles, but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Power is provided by a Spitfire 250cid L-head inline six-cylinder engine and backed by a Presto-Matic two-speed semi-automatic transmission with overdrive. An electric fuel pump has been added.
