OVERVIEW
This restored 1969 AMC AMX is powered by a 290cid V8 that has been rebuilt and enlarged into a 308, which is backed by an upgraded 727 TorqueFlite three-speed automatic transmission. Features include power front disc brakes, bucket seats, a center console, and new exhaust hardware. Finished in Candy Apple Red over a black vinyl interior, this AMX comes with an owner’s manual and a transferrable New York registration.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
The exterior is finished in Candy Apple Red. Features include chrome bumpers, color-keyed sport mirror housings, and 290cid engine call-out emblems. An exterior walk-around video is available below.
EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES
A set of 14-inch Western turbine-style aluminum wheels is wrapped in 225/70R14 front and 235/60R14 rear Cooper Cobra Radial G/T raised-white-letter tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The front bucket seats and the rear seat are upholstered in black vinyl. Features include manual windows and steering, a center console-mounted automatic transmission shifter, woodgrain trim, and a three-spoke sport steering wheel with a black grip. The seller states that the vinyl on the driver’s seat is cracking.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
A 120-mph speedometer and a fuel gauge are located ahead of the driver. A pair of Summit gauges for the water temperature and oil pressure is located in the center of the dashboard. The odometer reads 28,739 miles, which the seller reports to be accurate.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Power is provided by a 290cid V8 that was rebuilt in 2009 and enlarged into a 308, and backed by an upgraded 727 TorqueFlite three-speed automatic transmission. A high-lift camshaft has been installed and the engine has been dyno-tested; the engine reportedly produces 335 horsepower. A new starter was installed in 2023. UNDERCARRIAGE
This AMX is equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle. Braking is provided by power front discs and rear drums. A new dual exhaust system has been installed.
