Vehicle Story

This 1987 Porsche 928S4 has covered just over 33,825 miles from new and remains all-original and unrestored. Finished in Guards Red with tan interior, power is provided by a 4.9L V8 paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission. Located in Colombia, South Carolina, the 928S4 is offered for sale by the selling dealer with a clean CARFAX report as well as original books and keys.

Finished in Guards Red, the 928 retains all of its original factory paint. The seller notes there are several minor rock chips on the hood that have been touched up but the car has not had any other paint or bodywork. Pop up headlights are integrated into the front fender and a factory chin spoiler is mounted underneath the front bumper. A black fixed spoiler is featured on the rear hatch along with a rear window wiper.

The car retains its original polished disc wheels measuring 7"x16" in the front and 8"x16" in the rear. The wheels are wrapped in Toyo Proxes T1R tires with 225/50-16 in the front and 245/45-16 in the rear. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel ventilated disc brakes with four-piston calipers all around.

The all-original interior features dual power-adjustable tan leather bucket seats with black piping with matching tan interior panels and console lid. The tan carpeting features new black contrasting floormats with red embroidered "928S4" script, which matches the scripts on the black door sills. The center console houses the shift lever for the automatic transmission as well as switches for the power windows, while controls for the dual power-adjustable mirrors are located on the driver's door panel.

Instrumentation includes a 180mph speedometer and an 8k tachometer. Additional analog gauges provide readouts for water temperature, fuel level, oil pressure, and voltage. The original Blaupunkt stereo is retained in the dash, just below the climate controls. Currently, the odometer reads 33,825 miles, 180 of which have been added by the selling dealer in the past 2 years.

The 4.9L V8 was factory rated at 320 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque when new. The car was serviced in February of 2019 which included an oil change, new spark plugs and a new AGM battery as well as new Freon in the A/C system. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 4-speed automatic transaxle style transmission.

Additional underside photos are available in the gallery.

Included with the sale are the original owner's manual, warranty & maintenance book, tools as well as two keys. Located in Columbia, South Carolina this 928S4 is offered for sale by the selling dealer with a clean CARFAX and clear Montana title.

@TheToyBox – Rob, I reviewed the CARFAX report. There is one mileage recorded that is inconsistent. I think that the Canadian service tech for this service made a mistake and recorded the mileage as 33,000 kilometers instead of miles as in all the other mileages recorded. 33, 000 miles would be consistent with the mileage before and after and 33,000 kilometers is 20,505 miles which is what was recorded. This car has odometer in miles not kilometers. I hope that helps. ...

Yes. Thanks!

Rob, you will have to explain what you noticed. The mileage was documented on the title when we bought the car.

I noticed mileage inconsistency on the CarFax report. Can you explain?

There is one day to go in the auction. This is an exceptional Porsche. Cars are only original once. An original car in this condition will continue to appreciate. Survivor cars are the most valuable segment in the collector car market. Good luck to everyone .

This is an exceptional car. It only has 34k miles but the amazing thing is the condition of this car with original paint. The finish almost looks new. Many cars with original paint don't look very good but there is a desire to keep them original so the owners accept their worn out looking condition. There has been a movement to preserve cars in original condition which is commendable. This car has never needed a new paint job so the decision to keep it all original was very easy. Even the drivers seat bolster looks almost new after 33 years.
