OVERVIEW
This 1968 Ford Torino GT underwent a refurbishment process in 2020 that included the paint, engine, drivetrain, and frame. It is powered by an overhauled 390cid V8 connected to a four-speed manual transmission. Features include a tilt steering column, power steering, power Wilwood disc brakes, power windows, air conditioning, and a RetroSound AM/FM stereo. Finished in Wine over a black vinyl interior, this Torino comes with a clear title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
During the build in 2020, the body was finished in Wine. Features include chrome bumpers, hood pins, a hood scoop, a black hood stripe, shaved door handles, electric door poppers, dual mirrors, and a black rear spoiler. The rear taillights have been upgraded with high-intensity bulbs. The seller states that there are minor paint issues and small chips in the finish are present.
EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES
A set of chrome 18-inch Foose wheels are wrapped in 235/40ZR18 front and 275/40ZR18 rear Nitto NT555 Extreme ZR radial tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The front bucket seats and the rear seat are upholstered in black vinyl. Features include power windows and steering, a tilt steering column, a floor-mounted manual transmission shifter, air conditioning, a RetroSound AM/FM radio, a three-spoke Billet Specialties steering wheel, and black trim. A control panel with switches for the LED front running lights, underhood lights, interior lights, and trunk lights has been installed.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
A set of AutoMeter Spek-Pro gauges that includes a 180-mph speedometer, an 8,000-rpm tachometer, and gauges for other vehicle systems is located ahead of the driver. The true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Power is provided by a non-original 390cid V8 and backed by a four-speed manual transmission. Engine bay features include tube exhaust headers, an MSD electronic ignition, polished aluminum valve covers, a K&N air filter, and body-color heads, block, and intake manifold. A new camshaft, lifters, gaskets, and a powder-coated intake manifold were installed in June 2022. The video below shows the engine being started up.
UNDERCARRIAGE
This Torino has been modified to accept a Mustang II-style independent front suspension with tubular control arms and coil-over shocks. The nine-inch Ford rear drive axle is mounted with leaf springs and traction bars. Braking is provided by power Wilwood four-wheel discs. A dual exhaust system exits at the rear.
