40k-Mile 2008 Honda S2000 CR

OVERVIEW

This 2008 Honda S2000 CR (Club Racer) is a limited-production performance roadster that has been driven 40,494 miles since new and receives power from a turbocharged F22C1 2.2-liter DOHC VTEC inline-four paired with a six-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The powertrain was recently upgraded with a Sheepey Race turbo kit, a Precision wastegate, a three-inch downpipe, and an upgraded clutch. Finished in Berlina Black and equipped with a color-matched removable hardtop over a two-tone black and yellow cloth interior, this AP2 S2000 CR is now offered by the selling dealer with a clean CARFAX report and a clear title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

The monochromatic Berlina Black (code NH-547) body has color-keyed aerodynamic winglets on the front bumper, color-keyed mirror caps, a removable hardtop in place of the deleted soft top, and a rear spoiler. Features include a clear protective film over the nose, xenon headlights, daytime running lamps, clear side indicators, LED taillights, and stainless steel exhaust outlets. The selling dealer notes that one of the front fenders has been repainted and seven of the car’s original 10 VIN stickers are in place.

EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES

Black Enkei split-spoke 17-inch wheels are wrapped in 225/40 Dunlop Direzza tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The two-seat cockpit is fitted with black and yellow cloth (code N) buckets, matched to the door panels with contrast stitching, along with the dash, center console, carpeting, and embroidered floor mats. Features include air conditioning, tinted power windows, a CR-exclusive quicker 13.8:1 steering ratio, cruise control, remote entry, push-button ignition, power steering, aluminum pedals, a short-throw shifter with an aluminum shift knob, a 12-volt power outlet, and an eight-speaker AM/FM/CD audio system. There is a flaw noted on one of the door panels per the dealer.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

Instrumentation consists of a digital speedometer, a bar-style 9,000-rpm tachometer, and factory gauges for the fuel level and coolant temperature. In addition, auxiliary AEM gauges for the air/fuel ratio and additional data have been attached with Velcro near the driver-side A-pillar. The digital odometer reads 40,494 miles, in line with the most recent recorded figure of 33,043 miles logged on the CARFAX report in 2015.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

The F22C1 2.2-liter DOHC VTEC inline-four was factory-rated at 237 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque when new. It has been upgraded with a Sheepey Race turbo kit, a Precision 5858 smart wastegate, and a three-inch exhaust downpipe. Power is fed to the rear wheels via a  close-ratio six-speed manual transmission equipped with an upgraded clutch and a limited-slip differential. A safety inspection has been performed along with a compression test, which showed normal pressure levels.

UNDERCARRIAGE

Stopping power comes from four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes. Handling aids exclusive to the CR model include a rear chassis brace and stiffer dampers and stabilizer bars.
