Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This restored 1966 Oldsmobile 4-4-2 is powered by a 400cid big-block Oldsmobile V8 backed by a rebuilt TH400 three-speed automatic transmission. Features include factory air conditioning, a Hurst Dual-Gate shifter, power steering, upgraded power front disc brakes, and a RetroSound AM/FM/Bluetooth stereo. Finished in Autumn Bronze and equipped with a black vinyl top over a black vinyl Year One interior, this Oldsmobile comes with a clear title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

This 4-4-2 was originally finished in a solid color and a black vinyl top has been added. The exterior was refinished in the original color of Autumn Bronze (Code M-M) 10 years ago. Features include chrome bumpers, body side and wheel well trim, body-color rearview mirror caps, and a rear antenna.

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

A set of 15-inch chrome Oldsmobile SSI wheels is wrapped in 275/60R15 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

Originally equipped with Parchment White Pearl (Code 987-B) trim, the front bucket seats and the rear seat are now upholstered in black vinyl. Features include black door panels with manual windows, a center console-mounted automatic transmission Hurst Dual-Gate shifter, factory air conditioning, power steering, a RetroSound AM/FM/Bluetooth stereo, and black trim.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

A 120-mph speedometer, a fuel gauge, a clock, and a factory 6,000-rpm tachometer are located ahead of the driver. The odometer reads 54,338 miles but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Power is provided by a rebuilt reportedly original 400cid big-block Oldsmobile V8 backed by a rebuilt TH400 three-speed automatic transmission. Engine bay features include chrome valve covers and a chrome air cleaner housing. Newly installed parts include an upgraded mild camshaft, a Jet Performance Products Quadrajet Stage 2 carburetor, a rebuilt original radiator, and a brake master cylinder and booster. During the engine rebuild, the original heads, intake manifold, and exhaust manifolds were reused. An oil change was completed in August 2023. The factory air conditioning compressor, mounting bracket, and lines have been removed.

UNDERCARRIAGE

This Oldsmobile is equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear axle with an Anti-Slip differential. Braking is provided by upgraded power front discs and rear drums. A new dual exhaust system exits at the rear.

@dasmoose – Thanks Louie0 - I really want it - she is an absolute #1 BEAUTY......... but my wife just can't say 'yes' to the "Autumn Bronze" - she thinks it reminders her of red, and she hates red. So, with tears in my eyes, I back away from my dream 442, and wish you the best in all that you do - and this one..... you did perfect!!!!! Stay Healthy and well, always - dasMoose ...

Thank you for the kind words. It didn't meet the reserve so it is still for sale. Hit me up there if you can get her to change her mind.

@dasmoose – There is only one (1) pic of the undercarriage, and it is the rear shot showing the bumper, gas tank, exhaust and a bit of the frame. How would you grade the complete undercarriage in retrospect to rust level - 1 to 10, and 10 being best. Thank you/dasMoose ...

Probably a 7. It’s solid but not where you would put mirrors under the rocker panels for a car show.
