Vehicle Story

This 1966 Plymouth Barracuda underwent a restoration approximately eight years ago and is now powered by a 360ci V8 paired with a factory 4-speed manual gearbox. The 4-barrel carburetor was rebuilt, and the car has a new ignition, coil, seats, and Redline tires. A Hurst shifter has been added since the seller acquired the car two years ago from a private Barracuda collection in Dallas, Texas. This red over red Barracuda is offered with a clean Nevada title in the seller's name.

The Barracuda received new taillamps and front sheet metal for 1966, and this example is finished in red with black Rallye stripes and new chrome bumpers. Photos show the condition of the paint in close-up.

New Redline tires are mounted on 14" wheels with dog-dish hubcaps and chrome beauty rings.

The interior is trimmed in new red vinyl buckets up front and a bench in the rear with matching carpet, dash, and headliner. Chrome treatments include the gauge cluster, center console seat edges, sills, and horn ring. A Hurst brushed aluminum T-handle shifter and Harley Davidson floor mats have been added under the seller's ownership.

This Barracuda is equipped with the upgraded gauge package, which includes the standard temperature and fuel gauges and a 120mph speedometer, plus oil pressure and temperature gauges. An additional aftermarket oil pressure gauge is fitted below the radio delete cover.

The car originally left the factory with a 273ci V8, which was replaced with a 360ci V8 during the restoration. The engine is mated to the original A833 4-speed manual gearbox. Additional work included a rebuild of the Holley "double-pumper" 650 cfm carburetor at Bob Oliver's Competition Carburetion in Sun Valley, Nevada, and a new radiator, electronic ignition, and coil.

The factory high-performance exhaust manifolds are connected to dual pipes with Flowmaster Turbo 40 mufflers. Handling and stopping are managed by rack and pinion steering and 4-wheel drum brakes.

Of potential interest is the existence of the "Vehicle Certicard" located in a sleeve inside the engine bay. The CERTICARD identified the VIN, select option codes, and the original owners name, address, and delivery date for warranty purposes.
