OVERVIEW
This 1966 Ford Mustang GT coupe has been one-family-owned for 17 years and is powered by a rebuilt 289cid V8 mated to a rebuilt four-speed manual transmission. Recent work was performed on the suspension, fuel system, air conditioning, and brakes. Equipment includes a woodgrain steering wheel, styled steel wheels, and a newer exhaust system. Finished in Tahoe Turquoise and equipped with a white vinyl top over a Light Aqua and White vinyl interior, this first-generation Mustang GT is now offered with removed original parts, receipts dating back to 1981, a shop manual, and a clear title in the seller’s name.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
The Tahoe Turquoise (code U) body received a respray in 2006 and is accented with GT rocker striping, chrome brightwork, fog lamps, dual side mirrors, faux air vent tridents, and a newer dual exhaust system. The seller notes that there are areas with blemishes as shown in the gallery, including a small dent on the trunk lid, paint chips, buffer burns, rub marks at the top of the windshield, corrosion on the lower doors and near the rocker stripes, and a small nick at the leading edge of the vinyl top.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
Styled steel 14-inch wheels are wrapped in BFGoodrich whitewall tires that were installed in 2019.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The interior is fitted with two-tone Light Aqua and White (code 67A) vinyl low-back bucket seats up front, a bench in the rear, and matching materials for the door panels, dash, carpeting, and logo floor mats. Features include embossed backrests, a center console, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, a push-button AM radio, and a factory air conditioning unit, which runs modern refrigerant and is connected to new components and a new blower motor. The seller has disclosed that the dash has some wear and there is some carpet staining.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
Instrumentation includes a 140-mph speedometer and supporting gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, oil temperature, and voltage. Auxiliary Rally Pac gauges mounted to the steering wheel include a 6,000-rpm tachometer and an inoperative clock. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 66,887 miles, which is believed to be 166,887 miles based on the supporting documentation, although the true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The 289cid V8 breathes through a four-barrel carburetor and was rebuilt in 2004 under prior ownership. It is equipped with 1967 valve covers, newer roller rockers, and a newer carburetor and intake. The radiator, rear main seal, motor mounts, water pump, and starter have been replaced. The intake gaskets and fuel filter were replaced in August 2023. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a rebuilt console-shifted four-speed manual transmission that received new seals, gaskets, synchro rings, bearings, and a clutch in 2019.
UNDERCARRIAGE
The chassis has been upgraded with KYB shock absorbers. Work within the last few years includes the replacement of the front springs, lower control arms, shackles, strut rod bushings, insulators, and rear leaf springs. The braking system uses an upgraded dual-circuit master cylinder.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
The sale includes receipts dating back to 1981, a shop manual, and removed original parts, including the carburetor and intake.

Here are the photos of the shop manuals. I have two other sets of keys, but these look the oldest of the sets, maybe originals.
@RK6272 – Is there more parts than in the picture? Thanks for the reply. ...
No, there are no more parts than previously posted. The A/C unit is just super heavy, also the Intake Manifold pretty heavy as well. I have a few more items that I didn't post photos of previously shop repair books, and there is an old trophy from a car show from previous owner. Two heavy duty bins hold the parts, I have the fan on top of bins because of its awkward shape.
Is there more parts than in the picture? Thanks for the reply.
@RK6272 – Is the Mustang ready to drive cross country? ...
Good morning, My car is running great, though the warranty did expire many years ago. One huge factor, I would consider is that the removed parts that come with the sale are quite heavy and I wouldn't suggest carrying those in the trunk for a cross country trek. Actually they may not all fit in the trunk. Thanks for looking at my auction.
