Vehicle Story

This 1979 Pontiac Firebird 10th Anniversary Edition retains its original factory 403ci Oldsmobile-sourced V8 and features the WS6 suspension package.  It is finished in silver over a gray vinyl interior and equipped with a Turbo Hydra-Matic 350 automatic transmission.  The car is one of 7,500 Anniversary Editions produced in 1979 and one of 5,683 equipped with the 403ci V8 and automatic transmission.  Located in Wilson, Oklahoma, this Firebird is now offered by the selling dealer on a clean Oklahoma title.

The car is finished in Platinum Silver Poly with red and black accenting pinstripes as well as charcoal lower panels.  The hood features the iconic "Screaming Chicken" decal, additional callout graphics on the hood, shaker, and trunk.  Removable T-Tops are equipped and are silver-tinted from the factory.  Additional styling elements include a lip spoiler, a dual exhaust system, and a full-width black-louvered taillight panel.

Fitted with factory 15” aluminum turbine wheels which were standard for the Anniversary Edition.  They are mounted to Firehawk Indy 500 raised-white-letter tires on all four corners.  The car came equipped with the WS6 Special Performance Package, including stiffer springs and a ¾-inch anti-roll bar, nylon end-link bushings, firmer shocks, and a fixed 14:1 steering ratio, and both front and rear disc brakes.

The interior is fitted with a monochromatic silver and gray design theme to mirror the exterior paintwork.  It has gray carpeting with matching embroidered floor mats and gray vinyl seats, with buckets up front and a center console.  The back seat has an embroidered Firebird logo that matches similar logos on the door panels.   A leather-wrapped steering wheel is equipped, and a full-width turned aluminum trim panel accents the dash.  Additional factory options include a premium sound system, and the car has power windows.

Instrumentation includes a 100-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer, along with accompanying gauges for fuel level and voltage.  The 5-digit odometer reads 2k miles, which is claimed to be 102k per the seller.

The 6.6-liter 403ci V8 is original to the vehicle and unmodified from stock.  Power is transferred to the rear wheels through a TH350 automatic transmission and 10-bolt,3.23:1 limited-slip rear end.

The original space-saver spare tire and the air inflator can are both housed in the trunk

The sale includes a Haynes service manual along with owner’s manuals and other factory documentation.
