This 1962 Ford Thunderbird Convertible shows 32k miles and is powered by its original and recently overhauled 390ci V8 paired with a 3-speed "Cruise-O-Matic" automatic transmission. Factory equipment includes a power convertible top, power steering and brakes, swing-away steering wheel, chrome wire wheels, and more. The seller acquired the car five years ago from Daniel Schmitt & Co. in St. Louis, Missouri. This "Bullet Bird" is finished in Acapulco Blue Metallic over Medium Blue Metallic and is offered with original build sheets, an owner's manual, and a current Connecticut registration in the seller's name.
The third-generation Thunderbird underwent styling changes consisting of pointed front fenders, blade-like tailfins, large circular taillights, and unadorned curved flanks. This example's redesigned body is finished in Acapulco Blue Metallic with a power white convertible top, chrome bumpers, and rear fender skirts.
14"x8" chrome wire wheels are wrapped in whitewall tires.
A Medium Blue Metallic interior features vinyl front buckets and rear bench, chrome trim, a locking center console, a swing-away steering wheel with chrome horn ring, and light blue carpet. Other features include a stock AM radio, chrome window cranks and door handles, and more.
The chrome gauge cluster includes a 120-mph speedometer and the odometer shows under 32k miles, approximately 1,000 of which have been added during the seller's five-year ownership. True mileage is not known.
Power is provided by the original 390ci V8, which was rebuilt in 2019, and it is mated to a 3-speed "Cruise-O-Matic" automatic transmission. A Holley 4-barrel carburetor was fitted from the factory.
Standard equipment includes power steering and brakes, a 3.00:1 rear axle ratio, an independent front suspension with coil springs, and leaf springs in the rear.
Included with the car are the original build sheets, registration cards, and owner's manual.
