Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This 1966 Ford Mustang Fastback 2+2 is the result of a reportedly $200,000+ one-off build by Sabas Customs of Grand Junction, Colorado. It rides on Forgeline wheels with Bridgestone tires, a custom frame, and adjustable coilovers. Equipment includes a hood scoop, remote door poppers, power steering, push-button start, a Bluetooth sound system, and Wilwood disc brakes. Under the hood is a 347cid V8, which is connected to a Quick Fuel Technology carburetor and a TREMEC TKO 600 five-speed manual gearbox. Finished in matte gray and silver over a tan leather interior, this first-generation Mustang comes from the selling dealer with a clear title.

EXTERIOR - FEATURES

The body was repainted matte gray and silver during the five-year build process. Features include LED headlights, external hood latches, a hood scoop, mesh sail panel inserts, and dual rear valance-exit exhaust outlets. The door handles have been shaved and replaced with remote electric door poppers.

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

The 17" x 7" front and 18" x 9" rear Forgeline wheels are wrapped in 225/45R17 and 245/45R18 Bridgestone Potenza RE-71RS tires with 2022 date codes, respectively.

INTERIOR - FEATURES

The 2+2 cabin has been customized with tan leather front bucket seats, matching rear seats, and color-coordinated materials for the dashboard, center tunnel, door panels, and trim. Features include manual windows, a tilt steering column, push-button start, a wood-rimmed steering wheel connected to power steering, a skeletonized shift lever, an 8-ball shift knob, an E-Stopp electric parking brake, and a Bluetooth-capable audio system.

INTERIOR - GAUGES

Vehicle information is displayed on a 120-mph speedometer, an 8,000-rpm tachometer, and gauges for the fuel level, voltage, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

The 347cid V8 is equipped with a Quick Fuel Technology carburetor and sends power to the rear wheels through a TREMEC TKO 600 five-speed manual transmission with a hydraulic clutch. Engine bay components include an aluminum radiator with dual electric fans, an MSD ignition system, and a Wilwood master cylinder. The battery has been relocated to a custom box in the trunk.

UNDERCARRIAGE

The original frame has been replaced with a custom unit. The suspension has been upgraded with adjustable coilovers. Braking is performed by manual Wilwood disc brakes with cross-drilled and slotted rotors and six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers.
