Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air Sport Coupe is reportedly a former Northeast Classic Car Museum exhibit and an Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) Senior Grand National award-winning restoration that received a perfect score of 1,000 points at The Hillsborough Concours d’Elegance in California. According to the seller, it is also a 1-of-1 car based on its options and color combination. It is powered by a Super Turbo-Fire 265cid V8 backed by a Powerglide two-speed automatic transmission. Factory features include a remote driver-side rearview mirror, wheel skirts, air conditioning, power windows, a power front bench seat, an Autronic Eye, power steering, and power brakes. Finished in Onyx Black and Crocus Yellow over a Yellow vinyl and Charcoal cloth interior, this Bel Air comes with a shop manual and a clear title in the seller's name.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

During the restoration 10 years ago, the reportedly rust-free body was finished in the original two-tone colors (code 696) of Onyx Black over Crocus Yellow. Features include chrome bumpers and grille, a driver-side rearview mirror with a manual remote, color-matched rear wheel skirts, a rear-mounted antenna, and a hidden fuel filler.

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

A set of 15-inch black steel wheels with accessory wire hubcaps is wrapped in whitewall bias-ply tires that were replaced during the restoration process.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The cabin is furnished with a factory power front bench seat and a matching rear seat upholstered in Yellow vinyl with Charcoal gray cloth inserts (code 585) surrounded by yellow and black vinyl door panels and trim. Factory features include air conditioning, power windows, an Autronic Eye, power steering, an emergency brake warning light, a Wonder Bar AM radio, a Dinsmore compass, and a rear speaker control knob.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

A 110-mph speedometer and gauges for the fuel level and coolant temperature are located ahead of the driver. With 500 miles added during the seller's three-year ownership, the odometer reads 736 miles, which have been accrued since the restoration was completed.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

According to the seller, the Super Turbo-Fire 265cid V8 and Powerglide two-speed automatic transmission are numbers-matching. The engine is equipped with the optional high-performance package's 9.25:1 compression ratio, high-lift camshaft, and four-barrel carburetor. When new, it produced gross output figures of 205 horsepower and 268 lb-ft of torque.

UNDERCARRIAGE

This Bel Air was factory-equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle. Braking is provided by power four-wheel drums. A dual exhaust system exits at the rear through accessory exhaust tips.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

A shop manual will be included with the purchase of the car.

Seller, would you be so kind as to tell me what state this car came out of or where it was built. She looks just like a car my friend once owned, Rudy from Cali. Thank you. And GLWTA.
