OVERVIEW
This 1969 Pontiac Firebird Sprint coupe receives power from a replacement 250cid inline-six mated to a three-speed manual transmission. When new, it was initially delivered to Pontiac Plaza, Inc. in Portland Oregon. Equipment includes Sprint badging, a Hurst shifter, Sunpro auxiliary gauges, and a four-barrel carburetor. Finished in Carousel Red over a black vinyl interior, this first-generation Firebird is now offered by the selling dealer with PHS Historic Services documentation and a clear title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
The Carousel Red paint finish was applied under prior ownership to the body, which was originally Matador Red (code 52). Features include quad headlights, an antenna, dual side mirrors, Sprint badging, rocker moldings, slotted taillights, and chrome bumpers.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
The 14-inch Rally II wheels with polished trim rings and PMD-branded center caps are wrapped in Toyo whitewall tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The cockpit is fitted with black (code 208) vinyl fold-forward bucket seats up front, a bench in the rear, and matching trim for the door panels, dash, seat belts, and carpeting. Features include manual steering, manual-crank windows, an AM/FM radio, and a Hurst shifter. The trunk contains a vinyl mat and a spare tire. The dealer states that the headliner is torn and the dash has cracks in it.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
Instrumentation includes a 160-mph speedometer and a factory combination gauge that shows the fuel level and warning lights for various systems. An auxiliary bank of Sunpro gauges below the dash displays the oil pressure, amps, and coolant temperature. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 2,618 miles, although the true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The replacement 250cid inline-six is fed by a four-barrel carburetor. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a floor-shifted three-speed manual transmission. A safety inspection has been performed.
UNDERCARRIAGE
Stopping is performed by manual brakes.
