Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Sunliner convertible has over $14,000 in updates including a remanufactured three-speed automatic transmission, a rebuilt 292cid Y-block V8, a new starter, and brake work. Features include updated dual-circuit power front disc brakes, factory power steering, upgraded electric windshield wipers, and an AM/FM/cassette radio. Finished in light blue and equipped with a dark blue cloth power convertible top over a blue and white vinyl interior, this Fairlane is offered by a dealer on behalf of the private seller with service records and a clear title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

Originally finished in Dresden Blue (code C) and Starmist Blue (code F), the reportedly rust-free body of this Sunliner was refinished in light blue in 2014. Features include chrome bumpers, a fender-mounted antenna, dual rearview mirrors, Fairlane side trim with gold inserts, rocker trim, and a power dark blue cloth convertible top. A walk-around video can be seen below.

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

A set of body-color 14-inch steel wheels with replica 1957 Dodge Lancer hubcaps is wrapped in P215/75R14 Coker Classic whitewall radial tires that were installed in 2011.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

Originally equipped with Colonial White and Dresden Blue vinyl (code AB), the cabin is now furnished with a blue and white vinyl front seat and a matching rear seat surrounded by blue and white vinyl door panels and trim. Features include manual windows, factory power steering, a column-mounted automatic transmission shifter, and a digital AM/FM/cassette radio. A tear is visible on the bottom of the driver's seat.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

A 120-mph speedometer and gauges for the fuel level and coolant temperature are located ahead of the driver. An accessory clock is mounted in the center of the dashboard. The odometer reads 27,870 miles, but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Power is provided by the reportedly original 292cid Y-block V8 that was rebuilt in 2019 and backed by a remanufactured three-speed automatic transmission that was installed in 2013. Engine bay features include chrome valve covers, an aluminum intake manifold, a four-barrel carburetor with an electric choke, a polished aluminum air cleaner lid, an updated chrome power brake booster, and a polished dual-circuit brake master cylinder. The starter was replaced in 2021. A chrome power steering reservoir cover, oil filler cap, water pump pulley, and other dress-up parts have been added. The dealer states that routine maintenance has been performed.

UNDERCARRIAGE

This Ford was factory-equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle. Braking is provided by updated power front discs and factory rear drums. A dual exhaust system exits at the rear.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

This car is located at the private seller's home in Oregon. Records for the engine rebuild, transmission installation, and general maintenance will come with the purchase of the car.
