Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This 1996 Mazda Bongo Multi Wagon E2200 is a Japanese-market right-hand-drive utility van with a roof-mounted ShinMaywa hydraulic lift and an aerial work platform. It was imported and legalized for United States road use by the selling dealer and has been driven 29,289 total miles during its lifetime. Power comes from an under-cab-mounted 2.2-liter diesel inline-four paired with a five-speed manual transmission. Features include leveling stabilizers, steel wheels, and a heater. Finished in Dover White over a gray vinyl and plaid cloth interior, this Bongo is now offered by the selling dealer with a clear title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

The Dover White (code WU) exterior is accented by black trim for the headlights bezel, window trim, side mirrors, and door handles. Equipment includes a roof-mounted ShinMaywa hydraulic lift attached to a bucket-style aerial work platform, a passenger-side sliding door, mud flaps, and front and rear leveling stabilizers. The seller’s photos show some of the wear areas around the exterior, including body damage on the tailgate and the rear bumper.

EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES

Color-matched 14-inch steel wheels are wrapped in Bridgestone Ecopia tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The right-hand-drive interior is furnished with a gray vinyl and plaid cloth unequally split front seat, matched to the door panels, seat belts, and dashboard. Features include manual-crank windows, a Bongo-branded rubber floor mat, and a heater. The rear cargo area carries the provisions for the lift including electrical controls, a jack, and a metal enclosure with Japanese instruction decals.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

Instrumentation includes a 160-km/h speedometer and gauges for the fuel level and coolant temperature. The six-digit mechanical odometer reads 47,136 kilometers (29,289 miles), which the selling dealer believes to be the true kilometrage.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

The 2.2-liter diesel inline-four is mounted under the cab and reportedly received a recent oil change. Output is sent to the rear wheels via a floor-shifted five-speed manual transmission.
