This 2002 Mitsubishi Diamante is a limited-edition VR-X model that came equipped with special exterior aero treatment, white-faced gauges, a stiffer suspension, and a power moonroof. This VR-X is finished in Pewter Metallic and is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission. The car was originally sold in New York and subsequently relocated to Utah in 2017. Located in Tempe, Arizona, this Diamante is now offered by the selling dealer with a CARFAX report on a clean Arizona title.
The car is painted Pewter Metallic (A45) and has black accenting trim for the windshield trim, door handles, and front grille. The side windows are a frameless design, and the body has special aero treatment, including front wheel arch extensions, wheelbase skirts, and a trunk-mounted spoiler. There is a power-operated sliding moonroof.
Factory 16” aluminum wheels are mounted to Sumitomo tires on all four corners. As shown in the photo gallery, this specific car has distinct wheel designs for the driver versus the passenger side. As a VR-X model, it has a stiffer suspension than traditional lower Diamante trims.
The interior is fitted with black carpeting and black leather, power-operated bucket seats. There is an aftermarket double-DIN AM/FM/CD head unit installed in the dash, which has Bluetooth connectivity, and the car’s original radio is included with the sale. The car has silver center console trim, and a leather steering wheel derived from the Australian-market Magna VR-X. The door panels are leather-trimmed, and the car has powered and tinted windows, power mirrors, and power door locks. The sale includes a set of factory carpeted floor mats for each footwell.
Instrumentation includes white-faced gauges with a 120-mph speedometer and 9k-rpm tachometer, along with gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The 6-digit mechanical odometer reads 57k miles, which are original to the vehicle.
The 3.5-liter 24-valve V6 is original to the vehicle and was factory-rated at 210 horsepower. The CARFAX report has service information, including replacing the transmission fluid and valve cover gasket in 2018. A 5,000-mile service was performed in September 2019, including an oil change. Power is transferred to the front wheels via a 5-speed automatic transaxle and a console-mounted shift lever.
