OVERVIEW
This 1967 Plymouth Barracuda Formula S Fastback receives power from a rebuilt 383cid V8 mated to a rebuilt four-speed manual transmission, both of which are numbers-matching, according to the selling dealer. It is reportedly one of 704 made in its configuration and comes with chrome brightwork, Cragar wheels, a Hurst shifter, an MSD ignition system, and front disc brakes. Finished in Dark Copper Metallic over a black vinyl interior, this second-generation Barracuda is now offered by the selling dealer with a Certicard and a clear title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
The restored Dark Copper Metallic (paint code HH1) exterior is said to be rust-free. Features chrome bumpers, 383 badging, the reportedly original sheet metal, later-model stainless front and rear windshield trim, an antenna, dual mirrors, rocker moldings, a full-width stainless steel taillight garnish, and a dual exhaust system. According to the selling dealer, the chrome has been restored and the stainless trim has been polished. They have pointed out specific blemishes in the gallery to the right.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
Cragar S/S 15-inch chrome wheels are wrapped in BFGoodrich redline tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
Originally fitted with Copper upholstery (code H6K), the interior now has black vinyl bucket seats up front, a black vinyl fold-down bench in the rear, and matching materials for the door panels, dash, lap belts, center console, headliner, and carpeting. Features include aluminum door sill plates, manual-crank windows, LED dash lighting, woodgrain-look trim, an AM radio, a heater, and a T-handle Hurst shifter. The photo gallery shows a crack in the top of the dashboard.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
Instrumentation consists of a 150-mph speedometer, a 6,000-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 61,778 miles, although the true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The rebuilt, reportedly numbers-matching 383cid V8 bears casting number 2468130-9. It is fed by a four-barrel carburetor and has been upgraded with an MSD electronic ignition system, an aftermarket camshaft, and a balanced aluminum driveshaft. The selling dealer notes that the car has the correct exhaust manifolds, factory chrome valve covers and air cleaner, and a re-cored three-core radiator. Service was reportedly completed within the past year. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a rebuilt, reportedly numbers-matching four-speed manual transmission and a 3.23:1 Sure-Grip differential.
UNDERCARRIAGE
The front suspension has been rebuilt. Stopping power comes from manual disc brakes up front and drums in the rear.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
The selling dealer has provided a video showing the exterior, engine bay, a trim tag decoding, a start-up, an interior overview, a ride-along, and a drive-by. A Certicard will come with the purchase of the vehicle.
