OVERVIEW
This 1974 De Tomaso Pantera L has been with the current owner for more than 40 years and has been driven about 200 miles since a cosmetic and mechanical restoration. It receives power from a "Clevor" 351cid V8 that has been bored and stroked into a 440cid engine, which is mated to a ZF five-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a custom-built Vibrant Performance exhaust system, 17-inch wheels, power windows and mirrors, a Holley Sniper fuel-injection system, stainless steel headers, a CHI high-rise aluminum intake, and power Wilwood disc brakes. Finished in black over a two-tone black and white leather interior, this custom Pantera is now offered by the selling dealer on behalf of the current owner with the removed original engine, handwritten build documentation, dynamometer printouts, additional documentation, and a clear title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
The black exterior underwent restoration within the last few hundred miles under the current owner’s 40-year ownership. Features include pop-up headlights, color-keyed bumpers and mirror caps, rear window louvers, and quad outlets for the Vibrant Performance stainless steel exhaust system that was reportedly custom-built by Paul's Rods and Restos in Deer Park, New York.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
Forged aluminum 17-inch multi-spoke wheels are wrapped in 225/45 front and 335/35 rear Michelin Pilot Sport tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The two-seat cockpit was refurbished with two-tone black and white leather buckets, matched to the door panels, padded dash, center console, and carpeting. Features include power windows, power mirrors, a Lecarra leather-wrapped steering wheel, an AM/FM radio, a control panel for the Holley Sniper fuel-injection system, a radio, a heater, carpeted floor mats, and diamond-stitched hood and trunk liners.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
Instrumentation includes a 200-mph speedometer, an 8,000-rpm tachometer, and gauges in the center stack for the fuel level, coolant temperature, amps, and oil pressure. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 26,531 miles, although the true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The “Clevor” high-torque 351cid V8 leverages a combination of Cleveland and Windsor components, including a Dart Windsor block that has been bored and stroked to 440cid combined with Cleveland aluminum heads that have been machined and port-matched. Performance upgrades include stainless steel headers, a Holley Sniper fuel-injection system, a CHI high-rise aluminum intake, and dual snorkel intakes. The seller estimates output to be 700 horsepower. Power is directed to the rear wheels via a gated ZF five-speed manual transmission with a newer McLeod Racing clutch.
UNDERCARRIAGE
Stopping is performed by power Wilwood disc brakes.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
The car will come with its removed original motor as well as documentation including a bill of sale, the original temporary registration, dynamometer test printouts, service records, photographs, and handwritten build sheets. The selling dealer has provided a video with an exterior walk-around, an interior overview, and a start-up.
