OVERVIEW
This 1969 Volkswagen Beetle coupe was recently returned to roadworthiness after about 15 years of covered storage via mechanical work on the fuel system and brakes. It was reportedly imported from Germany under prior ownership and is powered by an air-cooled 1.5-liter flat-four mated to a three-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes dual mirrors, chrome wheels, and a radio. Finished in Toga White over a two-tone gray tweed cloth and vinyl interior, this Beetle is now offered with its original German license plate and a clear United States title in the seller’s name.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
The Toga White exterior was repainted under previous ownership and is equipped with chrome bumpers with rubber guards, headlight rings, an antenna, dual mirrors, running boards, and twin exhaust pipes. The seller has provided close-up images of specific areas of the body with scratches, blemishes, or corrosion such as the rockers and the lower doors.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
Chromed steel 15-inch wheels are wrapped in newer front and older rear 205/65 tires. According to the seller, the rear tires show signs of cracking.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The interior is fitted with two-tone gray tweed cloth and vinyl high-back bucket seats up front, a bench in the rear, matching door panels, and black trim for the dash and carpeting. Features include aluminum door sills, map pockets, manual-crank windows, lap belts, and a radio.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
The VDO-branded instrumentation includes a speedometer with an inset fuel gauge. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads approximately 37,000 miles, which the seller reports to be accurate.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The rear-mounted, air-cooled 1.5-liter flat-four is fed by a downdraft carburetor which was replaced in late 2023. During the same service, the motor received replacement hoses and a new fuel tank. Output is sent to the rear wheels via a floor-shifted three-speed manual transaxle. The car is said to shift smoothly at the current time.
UNDERCARRIAGE
The brake lines were replaced in November 2023.
