Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This two-wheel-drive 1968 GMC C2500 has been with the seller for 19 years and has received fresh paint and new interior, engine, transmission, ignition, cooling system, and air conditioning parts since 2017. It is powered by a 327cid V8 backed by a TH400 three-speed automatic transmission with a Gear Vendors overdrive unit. Features include a wood bed floor, a Buddy Bucket front seat, power steering, factory air conditioning, an AM/FM/CD stereo, a factory tachometer, a Custom Camper suspension, and power brakes. Finished in white over a blue vinyl interior, this GMC comes with an owner’s manual and a clear title in the seller's name.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

The reportedly rust-free body was refinished in white in June 2017. Features include chrome bumpers, a chrome grille, dual mirrors, a cowl-mounted antenna, Custom Camper emblems, a cab-mounted fuel tank, a long bed, dual locking bed-mounted fuel doors, a wood bed floor, and tailgate trim. The seller states that small paint imperfections are present on the right front fender above the headlight and two small paint chips were painted over on the right rear quarter panel.

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

A set of 16-inch American Racing slotted aluminum wheels is wrapped in 265/75 Trailfinder All Terrain radial tires that were installed in 2021.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The cabin is furnished with a reupholstered blue vinyl Buddy Bucket seat assembly surrounded by blue vinyl door panels and white metal trim. Features include manual windows, power steering, a column-mounted automatic transmission shifter, a newer dashboard, an AM/FM/CD stereo, a newer heater core, factory air conditioning, and newer carpeting.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

A 100-mph speedometer, a factory 5,000-rpm tachometer, and gauges for the fuel level, battery, temperature, and oil pressure are located ahead of the driver. The odometer reads 68,536 miles, but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Power is provided by a 327cid V8 and backed by a TH400 three-speed automatic transmission with a Gear Vendors overdrive unit. New parts installed in January 2022 include the Vortec heads, intake manifold, .454/468 camshaft, lifters, timing chain set, valve covers, and Edelbrock 600-cfm four-barrel carburetor. In July 2023, the truck received a new alternator, starter, water pump, radiator, fuel tank sender float, and air conditioning compressor. Oil and antifreeze changes were completed the same month. New transmission seals were installed in December 2023.

UNDERCARRIAGE

This GMC was factory-equipped with a Custom Camper suspension and a solid rear drive axle. Braking is provided by power drums. A dual exhaust system exits behind the rear tires.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

The seller will include an owner’s manual as part of the sale.

@Bearbytes – Never considered buying a truck without checking it in person. A few questions. Is there anything that doesn't work or needs attention soon. Did '68' have shoulder restrains or just lap seatbelts? How would the payment-title transfer happen not being there in person? ...

@Mcady – Hi. Being a camper special with new engine and transmission, is it equipped with an oil and transmission cooler? Thanks, Mike ...

Thank you for the question, no I never had it setup for a camper. I didn't want to give it that type of heavy work load. With the bed liner insert I used it for small home improvement projects and yard work only.

@Albanpowers – What a beautiful truck, you’ve done an amazing job fixing up the vehicle. After the bidding is complete how much time are you allowing to pick up the vehicle? Reason there’s a lot of snow in Colorado this time of year. ...

Thank you, I have put in a lot of thought and my own time into making this the truck I always wanted since I was a teenager. If I had the space to store it wouldn't be up for sale. I have no problem at all working out a time-line with the winning bider.

@Karl1971 – Are the 2 saddle aux. fuel tanks functional? Have they been cleaned out & sealed? Where is the switch? Thank you in advance. ...

I'm sorry no, they were already disconnected when I bought the truck 19 years ago. There is a switch on the driver's side on the floor.
