Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This 1969 Volkswagen Type 2 Transporter Pick-Up went through an exterior and interior refurbishment within the past year and is powered by a 1.6-liter air-cooled flat-four mated to a four-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes pop-out windshield panels, drop-down cargo bed sides, 14-inch wheels, and a four-wheel independent suspension. Finished in two-tone light teal and cream over a tan and brown vinyl interior, this Type 2 Pick-Up is offered by the selling dealer with a clear title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

The exterior received a respray in a two-tone color scheme of light teal and cream in 2023. Features include chrome headlight rings, pop-out windshield panels, side mirrors, a roof-mounted luggage rack, drop-down cargo bed sides, and wood bed slats.

EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES

Aluminum 14-inch five-spoke wheels are wrapped in 185/70 tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The interior of the cab was refurbished with a tan and brown vinyl bench seat within the last year. Coordinating colors are located on the door cards, lower dash trim, perforated headliner, carpeting, and floor mats. Features include map pockets, lap belts, and a passenger-side grab-handle.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

Instrumentation includes a 120-km/h speedometer and a fuel gauge. The odometer reads 23,217 kilometers (14,426 miles). The true kilometrage on the chassis is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

The rear-mounted 1.6-liter air-cooled flat-four was rated at 57 horsepower and uses a 12-volt electrical system. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a floor-shifted, synchronized four-speed manual transaxle.

UNDERCARRIAGE

The chassis features independent suspension and torsion bars at the front and rear.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

The selling dealer has provided a series of videos with an exterior walk-around, an interior overview, a look inside the engine bay with the engine running, and driving demonstrations from both outside and inside the vehicle.

@jasper – Specs: length, width and height? Type of wood and condition of wooden slats in truck bed? Location of truck? ...

Here are some pictures of the bed and wood. It is a type of pressure-treated wood (PTW), it is more resistant when exposed to the weather.

@jasper – Specs: length, width and height? Type of wood and condition of wooden slats in truck bed? Location of truck? ...

the truck itself measures 14 feet length, 6'2 width and 7 feet height (considering the bag rack. Without it, it's 6 feet). The inside of the bed measures 9 feet length, 6 feet width and 16 inches height. I'll check with the company that refurbished it regarding the wood.
