1974 Pontiac Catalina

OVERVIEW

This 1974 Pontiac Catalina Safari two-row wagon received a fresh coat of paint about a year ago and is powered by a rebuilt 400cid V8 mated to a Turbo Hydra-matic three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a luggage rack, a Glide-away tailgate, Rally II wheels, power steering, air conditioning, and power front disc brakes. Finished in Lakemist Green over a green Morrokide interior, this Catalina is now offered with a clear title in the seller’s name.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

The Lakemist Green (code 44) paint finish was resprayed within the last year under prior ownership. Features include quad headlights, chrome brightwork, marker lamps, dual mirrors, rocker moldings, a roof-mounted luggage rack, and a power-operated “Glide-away” clamshell tailgate with vertical rub strips.

EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES

Color-matched 15-inch Rally II wheels with polished trim rings are wrapped in Hankook Optimo whitewall tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The interior is fitted with green (code 514) “Morrokide” Naugahyde bench seats for the first and second rows, matched to the door panels, headliner, and newer carpeting. The upholstery is said to be in perfect condition per the seller. Features include manual-crank windows, power steering, woodgrain trim, air conditioning, an AM/FM radio, black seat belts, rubber floor mats, and under-floor storage compartments in the rear cargo area. Some of the weatherstripping on the doors shows signs of deterioration in the gallery to the right.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

Instrumentation consists of a 120-mph speedometer, a fuel gauge, and warning lamps for the oil pressure, coolant temperature, and voltage. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 20,789 miles, although the true mileage on the chassis is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

The 400cid V8 was rebuilt six months ago. Output is sent to the rear wheels via a column-shifted Turbo Hydra-matic three-speed automatic transmission.

UNDERCARRIAGE

Stopping is performed by power-assisted disc brakes up front and drums in the rear. The suspension system uses coil springs up front and a leaf spring setup in the rear.

The seller has provided a video with a start-up, an exterior lighting test, and a demonstration of the power-operated tailgate and its corresponding upper glass.
