OVERVIEW
This 1987 Jaguar XJ6 Vanden Plas executive sedan is powered by a 4.2-liter I6 mated to a BorgWarner three-speed automatic transmission. It was sold new by Bluff City Jaguar in Memphis, Tennessee and was reportedly previously owned in the southern United States by the same family for more than 35 years. Amenities include a power sunroof, Dayton wire wheels, a four-speaker audio system, an independent suspension, and power disc brakes. Finished in Alpine Green Metallic over a Doeskin leather interior, this garage-kept XJ6 Series III is now offered with an original sales invoice, a clean CARFAX report, and a bill of sale in the seller’s name.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
The Alpine Green Metallic (code HES) exterior features chrome brightwork, a "leaper" hood ornament, a power-operated sunroof, side moldings, a rear window defroster, and a dual-outlet exhaust system.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
Dayton 15-inch chrome wire wheels with knock-off center caps are wrapped in 215/70 Bridgestone Turanza tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The cabin is appointed with Doeskin (code AEE) leather bucket seats that are exclusive to the Vanden Plas up front, matching rear seats, and coordinating door panels, dash, center console, and carpeting. Amenities include power windows, power locks, power steering, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, cruise control, an 80-watt four-speaker audio system, automatic climate control, glossy walnut trim, a fold-down center rear armrest, and rear-seat reading lights. The seller notes that the air conditioning is not working.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
Instrumentation includes a 140-mph speedometer, a 5,500-rpm tachometer, and gauges for the fuel level, oil pressure, voltage, and coolant temperature. The six-digit mechanical odometer reads 119,046 miles. The most recent odometer reading from December 2023 on the CARFAX report is 119,219 miles.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The 4.2-liter I6 is equipped with electronic fuel injection and was rated at 176 horsepower and 219 lb-ft of torque when new. Maintenance history includes service to the coolant, spark plugs, and belts in January 2023. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a console-shifted BorgWarner three-speed automatic transmission.
UNDERCARRIAGE
Chassis underpinnings feature a four-wheel independent suspension; the front bushings were replaced in December 2023. Stopping power comes from power disc brakes.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
The CARFAX report begins in 1999 and shows accident-free ownership in Texas and Alabama. The car will come with an original sales invoice showing itemized options and a $45,340 retail price.

So, the AC doesn't work and one of the CV boots is busted and leaking fluid. How long have these issues been going on? Can't imagine being in Texas or Alabama without AC. Any issue with wheel bearings and when was the last time these were serviced.? What is the service history of the car?
After purchase the car was inspected by the go to garage here for vintage jaguars and found to be in good mechanical condition. I don’t know about valve servicing but the car is in excellent and good running condition.
Has the engine had a valve service?
