Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This 1974 Volkswagen Type 2 Bus originated in the Brazilian market and has received an inside-and-out restoration and a 23-window conversion. Power comes from a 1,500cc flat-four mated to a four-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes pop-out front windows, a retractable fabric roof panel, luggage racks, wood-veneer cabinetry, a sink, and an upgraded braking system. Finished in two-tone beige and cream over a brown and ivory vinyl interior, this Type 2 Bus is now offered by the selling dealer with a clear title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

The two-tone beige and cream exterior was restored following importation from Brazil and converted to a 23-window configuration. Features include pop-out front windows, white bumpers, side mirrors, full-length stainless steel trim, roof-mounted luggage racks, a retractable canvas roof covering, a side-mounted step ladder, and “1500” badging. The rear cargo compartment has a top-hinged hatch window.

EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES

Steel wheels with color-matched VW-branded center caps are wrapped in radial tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The cabin is fitted with two-tone brown and ivory vinyl upholstery for the three rows of seating as well as coordinated trim for the door panels, carpeting, and perforated headliner. Features include manual-crank windows, window curtains, a passenger-side grab-handle, and safety belts. The rear compartment is accessed via a passenger-side door and is furnished with wood-veneer cabinetry, a pop-up table, a sink, and a refrigerator.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

Instrumentation includes an 80-mph speedometer and a fuel gauge. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 7,853 miles, but the true mileage on the chassis is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

The rear-mounted, air-cooled 1,500cc flat-four reportedly runs well. Output is transferred to the back wheels via a floor-shifted four-speed manual transaxle.

UNDERCARRIAGE

The braking system has an upgraded dual master cylinder. The dealer has provided photos of the underbody in the gallery to the right.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

A $500 dealer fee will be added to the purchase price. The video below shows a start-up, the exterior, and an interior overview.
