OVERVIEW
This unrestored three-owner 1965 Plymouth Satellite 2-Door Hardtop is powered by a reportedly numbers-matching 426-S V8 backed by a rebuilt TorqueFlite three-speed automatic transmission. According to Chrysler records, out of the 800 1965 Satellite 2-Door Hardtops made with a 426cid "Street Wedge" V8 for the U.S. market, this is one of only 265 produced with an automatic gearbox. Features include an AM/FM radio, a rear speaker with reverb, bucket seats, and a center console. Finished in matte black and equipped with a beige roof over a black vinyl interior, this Plymouth comes with removed original parts, additional parts, transmission rebuild documentation, promotional materials, and a clear title in the seller's name.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
Originally finished in Medium Red Metallic (code TT1), the body is now finished in matte black with a beige roof. Features include chrome bumpers, Commando V8 emblems, a fender-mounted antenna, a driver-side mirror with a manual remote, rocker and wheel well trim, and rear body trim. The seller states that the floors are solid, but some rust is present on the body and trunk floors.
EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES
A set of 14-inch steel wheels with full spinner hubcaps is wrapped in whitewall radial tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The cabin is furnished with black vinyl (code P4X) bucket front seats and a matching bench rear seat. Features include manual windows and steering, a center console-mounted automatic transmission shifter, an AM/FM radio, and a rear speaker with reverb. The trunk contains a fuel cell.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
A 120-mph speedometer and gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, and alternator are located ahead of the driver. Gauges for the oil pressure and coolant temperature are mounted under the dashboard; a 6,000-rpm tachometer is located in the center console. The odometer reads 45,207 miles, which the seller reports to be accurate.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Power is provided by a reportedly numbers-matching 426cid "Street Wedge" V8 backed by a rebuilt TorqueFlite three-speed automatic transmission. Engine bay features include chrome valve covers and a chrome air cleaner housing with a 426 Commando decal.
UNDERCARRIAGE
This Plymouth is equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle with 3.23 gears and a Sure-Grip differential. Original equipment included with the 426cid V8 option package was a sway bar, larger brakes, and heavy duty suspension, similar to the police cars in 1965. Braking is provided by manual drums. A dual exhaust system exits at the rear.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
The seller will include transmission rebuild documentation, removed original parts, promotional materials, and additional parts, including a new uninstalled carpet kit, as part of the sale.
