Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu Sport Coupe received fresh paint and several new or upgraded exterior, interior, engine, fuel system, brake system, and suspension parts during a frame-off restoration completed in 2019. It is powered by the reportedly original and rebuilt Turbo-Fire 327cid V8, which is backed by a three-speed automatic transmission. Features include power steering, air conditioning, power windows, a tilt steering column, a vintage-look AM/FM radio, Wilwood power front disc brakes, and a Speedtech Performance suspension with Viking Performance coilovers. Finished in Champagne metallic over a black vinyl interior, this Malibu comes with a clear title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

Originally Butternut Yellow (code Y), the reportedly rust-free body was finished in Champagne metallic in 2017. Features include chrome bumpers, T3 headlights, a big-block hood, "Super Sport" and "396 Turbo-Jet" emblems, wheel opening and rocker moldings, dual rearview mirrors, and a black taillight panel. The seller states that less than five small rock chips are present in the paint. The hood and trunk lid are newer, but the seller believes all other body panels are original.

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

A set of 17-inch REV wheels is wrapped in 225/45 front and 275/40 rear Nitto radial tires that were installed in 2019.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The cabin is furnished with black vinyl (code 763) front bucket seats and a matching rear seat surrounded by black vinyl door panels and trim. Features include power windows and steering, a tilt steering column, a center console-mounted automatic transmission shifter, factory air conditioning (code E), and a vintage-look AM/FM radio. The seller states that the wiring, power windows, tilt steering column, upholstery, dashboard, dashboard pad, headliner, carpet, and gauges are new.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

A 120-mph speedometer and gauges for the fuel level, battery, temperature, and oil pressure are located ahead of the driver. A clock is mounted at the front of the center console. The odometer reads 1,883 miles, which reflects the mileage accrued since the gauges were replaced. The true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Power is provided by the reportedly original 275-horsepower Turbo-Fire 327cid V8, which was rebuilt in 2019. The original four-speed manual transmission (code L) has been replaced with a three-speed automatic transmission. Engine bay features include chrome valve covers, a Holley aluminum intake manifold, an HEI (high-energy ignition) ignition system, a four-barrel carburetor.  An oil change was completed in December 2023. The seller states that the brake master cylinder, power booster, brake lines, and fuel lines are new.

UNDERCARRIAGE

This Chevelle is equipped with an independent front and rear suspension with tubular control arms and adjustable coilovers, and a solid rear drive axle with 3.73:1 gears. Braking is provided by power front Wilwood discs and rear drums. The seller states that the Sweet Manufacturing steering box, Wilwood front disc brakes, dropped spindles, Speedtech Performance tubular suspension, Viking Performance coilovers, fuel tank, and Flowmaster X-pipe dual exhaust system are new.
